From now until the 2026 NFL Draft, trade speculation regarding Las Vegas Raiders‘ Maxx Crosby will continue to emerge. Every contending team will undoubtedly want him to bolster their defense. Meanwhile, the Silver and Black could either use the draft capital or a mix of young players and draft picks for him.
Nonetheless, the Raiders could decide they can contend during Crosby’s prime and keep one of the best players at his position to be a leader on a young team. As a result, these two sides of the same coin have Yahoo! Sports’ Jason Fitz believing that the Raiders are in a win-win position regarding Crosby.
“We know he’s a great player, and obviously, he’s great for the locker room,” Fitz told Caroline Fenton on the Feb. 3 edition of Yahoo Sports Daily. “If he wants out [and] if the Las Vegas Raiders decide that this is a long-term rebuild, I also think that’s healthy. I want Maxx to go wherever Maxx is happy. If Maxx needs to go somewhere else to win a bunch of games and win a Super Bowl, and the Raiders get a haul of picks in return, sure…
“I would just implore everybody that wants something for Maxx or for the Raiders here to understand that I think for the first time ever, it’s win-win. It’s win-win for the team. It’s win-win for Maxx. Whatever Maxx wants, I think the team will honor and respect.”
Raiders Told to Hold Onto Maxx Crosby Despite Speculation
Nonetheless, Fitz did eventually give his opinion on which side of the aisle he’s on, whether to keep or trade Crosby. For Fitz, it would be ideal to keep their star pass rusher as part of this rebuild.
“I want Maxx to be a Raider,” Fitz added. “I love my team even though it has been tough to watch the Raiders for the last several years. You know what’s not tough? Turning on the TV and knowing I’m going to get Maxx. Like I’m going to watch that.
“The number of times I have texted him after a game and said ‘We suck, but it’s amazing to watch you,’ and I just think that’s a gift to me. I can watch individual greatness and see it for the gift. In a perfect world, Maxx never plays for another team. Somehow the Raiders get it together and everybody wins.”
Crosby has had 278 solo tackles, 161 assisted tackles, 69.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, and one interception in 110 games for the Raiders since 2019, per StatMuse.
“I mean, Maxx is a great player,” Kinlaw told Vegas Sports Today in a video published on Jan. 31. “I live here. He’s good in the community. Everybody loves him. He’s a franchise player. He’s going to be the face of the of the franchise. If [Fernando] Mendoza comes, Mendoza got to work his way up to be the face of the franchise. If Maxx wants to go, I can understand that.
“This guy’s got the winning mentality in his head. He’s 100 percent. He goes full speed every play and he wants to win. I mean, you know, hey, personally, I ain’t never been on a losing team. And I can understand if he wants to go somewhere and start winning, but I think if he just hang in there for a couple of years, we get this show on the road starting this year.”
