The Las Vegas Raiders passed on drafting a wide receiver during the early rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft, opting not to use a Day 2 pick at the position or trade back into the first round. They eventually addressed the need later, selecting former Oregon Ducks wideout Malik Benson in the sixth round.

Even after that move, the team could still look into experienced free-agent receivers to help round out the depth chart before the 2026 season begins. There’s been no shortage of takes linking the Silver and Black to a veteran receiver such as Stefon Diggs.

Nonetheless, the Raiders aren’t the only team seen as a potential landing spot, as FanSided’s Mark Powell sees the Baltimore Ravens as an ideal situation for Diggs.

“The Ravens are linked to Stefon Diggs primarily because of where he’s from,” Powell wrote in his April 30 article. “Diggs is a Maryland native and even a former Terrapin. But looking beyond the optics, there’s plenty of reason for Baltimore to have some interest in the 32-year-old

“Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman are capable, but they are not game-breakers, and rarely win 1-on-1 battles. Diggs can fill the DeAndre Hopkins role for Baltimore, but be more effective doing it.”

Raiders Named Best Fit for Free Agent Stefon Diggs

Moreover, the speculation regarding Diggs comes from if Las Vegas goes with Kirk Cousins to start the season, might they want to add a wide receiver with a past connection to him?

In an April 29 article, CBS Sports’ Zachary Pereles stated that the best free agent fit is Diggs, who played with Cousins while with the Minnesota Vikings.

“Diggs showed last year he can still really play, even if his snap share was way down,” Pereles wrote. “A talented separator who snatches the ball with hands like glue, Diggs would really help a Raiders wide receiver group bereft of his skill set and bereft of experience. The youngsters could play a lot, but Diggs could still see planty of work on crucial downs.”

Last season with the New England PatriotsDiggs turned in an 87.5 overall PFF grade, placing him sixth among 81 qualifying wide receivers. His 87.5 receiving grade ranked seventh in that same group.

He finished with 85 catches on 100 targets for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 11.9 yards per reception. Diggs also gained 363 yards after the catch and dropped two passes last season.

Should Las Vegas Consider Patriots’ Kayshon Boutte?

Diggs isn’t the only player who spent last season with the Patriots who is in the speculation talk regarding the Raiders. For The Athletic’s Robert Mays, he believes the Raiders should go the trade route and buy low on a player without leveraging any of their Day 1 or Day 2 picks in the 2027 NFL Draft.

Mays proposed that Las Vegas pursue Kayshon Boutte, who could be the odd man out if the Patriots trade for A.J. Brown.

“The actual real thing that the Raiders could do, that is within the realm of possibility and is not us screwing around because it’s April 29 and we are trying to have a good time, is: Can you trade a fifth-round pick for Kayshon Boutte?” Mays said on the April 30 edition of “The Athletic Football Show.”

“It’s that type of stuff they actually probably should be thinking about, not the pie-in-the-sky idea of whether they can snatch away A.J. Brown from the Patriots. It’s not going to happen.”
