The Las Vegas Raiders fell 31-0 to the Philadelphia Eagles on December 14 at Lincoln Financial Field. Moreover, it was the second time this season that the Silver and Black were shut out.

Heading into this game, the Eagles were riding a three-game losing streak and felt as though their grip on the NFC East division lead could be slipping. Nonetheless, facing the struggling Raiders was what Philadelphia needed to boost its confidence.

Jalen Hurts attempted only 15 passes, and that was all Philadelphia needed. Hurts threw three touchdown passes, while Saquon Barkley ran for 78 yards and one touchdown as the Eagles cruised to the victory.

During the game between the Eagles and the Raiders, former NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski gave Las Vegas a brutal message that highlights the state of the franchise right now.

“When you play the Raiders, it’s like putting Neosporin on your cuts,” Gronkowski said (h/t Mick Akers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal). “They heal those wounds.”

Eagles Drop Reason for Dominant Win Over the Raiders

Following the game, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni met with the media to explain the reason behind the team’s dominant win over the Las Vegas Raiders.

“We were able to stop the run and get them in pass situations, and then we were able to get after the quarterback,” Sirianni told reporters. “So really good team defense, but those, you know, [Brandon Graham] was the first one to say it in there. Like sacks don’t happen without great coverage in the secondary.

“So it was just great team defense by the entire crew. Vic [Fangio] did a great job, and the coaches did a good job of preparing them and putting them in positions to succeed, and our guys did a good job of executing the defense overall, though, like the level they’re playing.”

Pete Carroll Goes Off on Media After Raiders Loss

The Raiders have now dropped eight straight games, and frustration is clearly growing. Las Vegas continues to struggle on offense, while the defense has shown little progress. Despite the rough stretch, Carroll remains supportive, stressing that the players are still giving their all and haven’t lost their resolve.

“These guys fought their a– off,” Carroll said after another shutout loss. “They fought their a– off. That was the result. They didn’t stop fighting. That was the result of our play right there. I have a lot of respect for the roster we just played against, and maybe they didn’t look like it in the last couple of weeks or whatever, but they played like they were capable, and we couldn’t stop.”

Moreover, Carroll believes that Philadelphia was simply the better team than the two-win Raiders, which led to the shutout scoreline.

“I think we got beat,” Carroll added. “This is a very well-loaded team, and they just did their thing today, both sides of the ball, and they really took it to us. We couldn’t stop their offense, and they got off the field [on] third down. A couple of penalties got in our way, and they were able to do what they needed to do.

“They ran for a bunch. They threw really highly efficient stuff that wasn’t taxing for them. We couldn’t make it hard on them, and we couldn’t get out of our way on offense. We couldn’t get yards. So that third downs and all that, I don’t think it’s some big psychic change that took place. I think we just got whipped by a really loaded football team that on this day had their way.”
