The Los Angeles Rams didn’t start hot the past two seasons.

They had losing records before their bye weeks, then played the rest of the two seasons strong and finished with a 10-7 record in both years.

Rams’ EDGE rusher Byron Young joined Stephen Mason and John Ireland to discuss Young’s collegiate career and time with the Rams.

Mason joked that if the Rams could start getting off to a faster start, so he could relax early in the season.

“Me and you both hope that. That’s the goal,” Young said on the show. “Honestly, like I was saying, I think our team is good with adversity, too. Coming from the bye week, we were 3-6 the first year and then 1-4. Honestly, we needed that bye week early. It came when we needed it and then after that, we were on a roll.”

“If you notice the last two years after the bye week, we just started going… that sounds like a terrible start but like a great finish.”

Rams Heading Into the Next Season

On paper, the LA Rams seemed poised to get off to a better start than the two most recent seasons.

Bringing in wide receiver Davante Adams, drafting tight end Terrance Ferguson and having a youthful defense will help the Rams jump to a positive record early into the season.

While the offense deserves a nod, it is the Rams’ young defensive line that has other teams concerned. Most members of the Rams D-line are entering their second or third season in the league, with the opportunity to get better.

Braden Fiske led the team in sacks in his rookie season. Young recorded 7.5 sacks in his second season as a professional. Kobie Turner had 8 sacks last season in Los Angeles.

Alongside teammate Jared Verse, who won the Defensive Rookie of the Year last season, the D-line is a major threat to any offensive line.

Making the playoffs and winning the Super Bowl is the clear goal for every player, coach, scout and executive’s goal in the NFL. But every body has a goal they’d like to achieve every season.

Byron Young is no exception to the list. He joined Inside Rams Camp and spoke about what goal he has for himself.

“My goal every year is just to help the team the best way I can,” the EDGE rusher said. “Obviously, get the most sacks I can, but at the end of the day, just work in the scheme with the defense and team. Just try to get better, grow from my mistakes and just help elevate the team.”

Byron Young and the Rams will begin their journey back to the playoffs when they take on the Houston Texans on September 7th at home.
