The Los Angeles Rams return to SoFi Stadium on Saturday with an opportunity to build on an hopeful preseason opener.
Oddsmakers aren’t necessarily expecting that momentum to carry over.
The Rams enter their matchup with the New Orleans Saints as home underdogs despite beating Kansas City 20-12 in their first preseason game. New Orleans, at the moment, is coming off a 24-20 loss to Jacksonville.
Much of the attention for Los Angeles will remain on its quarterbacks after first-round pick Ty Simpson opened his NFL career with an efficient performance.

The Rams and Saints kick off at 4 p.m. ET (1 p.m. PT) today (Saturday, Aug. 22) at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
Per the Rams’ official viewing guide, CBS LA will carry the game locally on KCBS. The broadcast is also available through several regional affiliates throughout the West.
For viewers in the local television market, the Rams say the game can be streamed through TheRams.com, the Rams mobile app and BZZR. ESPN Unlimited is also listed as a viewing option by Sports Illustrated. ESPN LA 710 AM will carry the local radio broadcast.
The betting line has moved during the week.
As of Saturday morning, Sports Illustrated’s DraftKings Sportsbook listing had New Orleans favored by 3 points, with the Saints at -155 on the moneyline and Los Angeles at +130. The over/under stood at 37.5 points.
The prediction markets tell a related story, although the gap is smaller. Kalshi put New Orleans’ win probability at 52%, compared with 48% for Los Angeles, on Saturday morning.
Polymarket leaned New Orleans by a 53%-48% margin. Prediction-market prices can continue changing until kickoff.

Preseason games often come down to which team has the better quarterback depth, and that could work in the Rams’ favor.
Simpson completed 21 of 25 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns against Kansas City. Los Angeles scored 20 points and left its opener with a clean first look at the No. 13 overall pick.
The workload against New Orleans is another element worth tracking. Head coach Sean McVay has split second-team practice snaps between Simpson and Stetson Bennett after the Rams’ starters accumulated extensive work during the joint session.
That practice setup should again make Saturday more about depth-chart evaluations than established stars. It also creates an environment where dependable backup quarterback play can swing the result quickly.
New Orleans has enough defensive talent to make life more difficult for Simpson than Kansas City did, and the Saints being favored isn’t especially surprising. Nonetheless, laying three points on the road in a preseason game requires confidence in the bottom half of a roster.
Los Angeles showed enough organization and quarterback efficiency in its opener to make the other side more appealing.
