Rams stars Matthew Stafford and Davante Adams appear poised for another big season.

The Los Angeles Rams stars Matthew Stafford and Davante Adams put on a show in their joint practice against the New Orleans Saints, as one of the latter franchise’s all-time greats got a firsthand look at the blue and gold.

Terron Armstead has shifted into private coaching and media after retiring following the 2024 season, and he spent the day at the crossover session.

He was impressed with what he saw from Stafford, Adams, and the Rams.

Terron Armstead Raves About Matthew Stafford After Watching Rams Camp

“Rams won the day in my opinion [exclamation point emoji],” Armstead posted on X on August 21. “Matt Stafford in MVP form already [eyes emoji].

“Davante Adams [flame emojis].”

Armstead was not the only one to remark on the connection between the veterans. The Athletic’s Nate Atkins did as well, noting how Adams and Stafford were unable to build chemistry last training camp with the QB sidelined due to a back injury.

“Stafford and Adams excelled against the Saints’ defense in a joint practice Thursday at the Rams’ facility in Woodland Hills. They connected for two touchdowns, including a trademark Stafford fade ball that Adams ran comfortably under along the right sideline for an easy score. They connected on crossers into the flats and slants across the middle,” Atkins wrote about the session on August 21.

“Adams and Stafford have shown off a smooth and adjustable connection all training camp, and though Adams had a few drops in earlier practices, the precision has shown two vital pieces to the Rams’ offense this season: Stafford and Adams still have it, even at the ages of 38 and 33, respectively.”

Atkins also noted how this all came amid a psoas injury to Puka Nacua. The challenge the Rams face is keeping Adams healthy.

He missed the final three games of the 2025 regular season and still led the NFL in TD catches.

Rams Defense Gets Love Too

In addition to Adams and Stafford, Armstead also appreciated what he saw from the other side of the ball.

“The Saints offense started off hot that first period, maybe eight plays. They were able to move the ball. They had some big chunk plays,” Armstead said on “The Set” on August 21, adding, “They was running the ball well.

“And then, about the middle portion of practice, Rams defense dominated. The Saints couldn’t do anything. Run game, pass game. Lot of pressure on Tyler Shough. The Rams defense and their coordinators were dialing it up, sending Trent McDuffie from the slot, sending safeties, putting linebackers up. It was a lot of pressure from a lot of different places. The Rams do a lot of line movements anyway. So, that–it’s a defense that keeps you off balance. You got to have good odds to play against that Rams defense, and they pulled out the trick bag today. The defense definitely had a lot of variety to it.”

Armstead did note that the Saints were better during red zone periods.

Still, without Myles Garrett out there, that is hardly an indictment against the Rams, particularly as a footnote.
