The Minnesota Vikings entered the 2026 NFL offseason with interest in making a move at the quarterback position.

Ahead of the 2025 season, the team made the decision to hand over the keys to 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy. They made that choice even after McCarthy missed his entire rookie season due to a knee injury suffered during preseason action.

Unfortunately, things went about as expected. McCarthy was clearly not ready to be an NFL starter and he also missed time due to injury. That forced the Vikings to explore the market this offseason.

When all was said and done, Minnesota ended up signing former No. 1 overall pick Kyler Murray after the Arizona Cardinals chose to move on from him.

Murray seems likely to be the team’s starter in 2026. The Vikings also re-signed Carson Wentz and still have McCarthy on the roster as well.

Vikings’ Kyler Murray Slapped With Clear Disrespect

FanSided’s Christopher Kline has revealed his quarterback rankings across the entire NFL following the 2026 draft. He did not give Murray a favorable ranking.

He ranked Murray at just No. 24 overall.

What made that ranking so disrespectful? A quick look at the names just above him show why very clearly.

Murray was ranked behind quarterbacks like Cam Ward and Tyler Shough. Jaxson Dart was also ranked ahead of Murray.

While he has never lived up to the superstar potential that he entered the NFL with back in 2019, Murray has still played well. He has had some injury struggles, but his play on the field has been far from awful.

What Will Kyler Murray Bring to Minnesota’ Offense?

Last season with the Cardinals, Murray played in just five games. He completed 68.3 percent of his passes for 962 yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions. Murray also ran for 173 yards and a score.

Back in the 2024 season, the 28-year-old quarterback threw for 3,851 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, while completing 68.8 percent of his passes. He also ran for 572 yards and five touchdowns that season.

If he can replicate the numbers from 2024, the Vikings will be in a much better position than they were in during the 2025 campaign.

Only time will tell, but Murray still deserves to be ranked above the three second-year quarterbacks. He has a proven track record of being able to make plays at the NFL level. A fresh start in Minnesota will also be helpful for him.

That being said, this is just extra motivation for Murray. It will be very interesting to see what he looks like in the Vikings’ offense playing alongside of Justin Jefferson.
