Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is coming to the Minnesota Vikings.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Wednesday morning the Vikings are signing Beckham.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the signing a few minutes later as well. Beckham’s previous relationships with Vikings personnel were instrumental in bringing him to Minnesota.
Rapoport added Minnesota was signing the wideout to its practice squad.
The Vikings are signing WR Odell Beckham Jr. to their practice squad, a move that adds veteran depth to the WR room and is a reunion with Kevin O’Connell and others who were with them with the Rams,” wrote Rapoport on X.
Beckham is signing in Minnesota after a brief return to the New York Giants this year. The Giants released the wide receiver on September 29.
In three games this season, Beckham didn’t have any catches. He didn’t make an NFL regular season appearance during the 2025 campaign. In 2024, he had nine catches for 55 yards over nine games with the Miami Dolphins.
Vikings Signing WR Odell Beckham Jr. to Practice Squad
The Vikings will be Beckham’s sixth team in his 11 NFL seasons. He made second-team All-Pro with the Giants during the 2015 and 2016 campaigns.
Beckham set receiving records with catches and yards in his first two and three seasons. Over his first 42 NFL games, he had 288 receptions, 4,122 receiving yards and 35 touchdowns.
Beckham hasn’t really been the same star since suffering a fractured left ankle in 2017. But he was a 1,000-yard receiver with the Cleveland Browns in 2019 and played a crucial role in the Rams winning the Super Bowl at the end of the 2021 campaign.
In the first quarter of the Super Bowl victory, Beckham had two catches for 52 yards and a touchdown. A lot of pundits saw him on the way to a MVP-like performance. But Beckham suffered an ACL injury in the second quarter and exited.
The veteran returned from that injury with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023. He had just 35 catches but averaged 16.1 yards per catch that season. Beckham then had his stint with the Dolphins during 2024.
The Giants brought back Beckham in June. They moved on from the popular franchise receiver after just three games.
Why Beckham Signed With Vikings
As Rapoport indicated, Beckham is reuniting with former Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell, who is the Vikings head coach. The wideout only played eight regular season games for O’Connell, but he had a lot of postseason success in the play-caller’s offense.
During the 2021 postseason run, Beckham had 21 catches for 288 yards and two touchdowns in four playoff games for the Rams. In the NFC championship game win, Beckham registered nine receptions for 113 yards. He appeared on his way to a big performance in the Super Bowl too before his injury.
Schultz wrote on X that Beckham’s relationship with Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson could have played a role in this signing as well.
Beckham heads to Minnesota with 575 catches, 7,987 receiving yards and 59 touchdowns in 122 NFL games.
