Head coach Mike Vrabel of the New England Patriots

New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel addressed the media following his team’s 29-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX. He spoke about how proud he was of the team, as reported by WEEI.com.

The Patriots enjoyed an impressive turnaround from the 2024 season. They were 4-13 last year, and finished the 2025 season 14-3. Patriots were able to bring in key free agents such as Milton Williams, Stefon Diggs, K’Lavon Chiasson, and Carlton Davis II, among others.

The Patriots were also able to bring in key players during the NFL draft. They selected left tackle Will Campbell at the fourth overall selection. They were then able to add running back TreVeyon Henderson in the second round with the 38th overall pick, and guard Jared Wilson in the third round with the 95th overall selection.

The team also got hot over the course of the regular season. They were able to win 10 straight games. This is something that’s not new for the organization, as this was their sixth 10-game winning streak in franchise history.

The Patriots also faced some of the top defenses in the NFL over the course of the playoffs. They defeated the fifth -ranked defense in the Los Angeles Chargers, the first -ranked defense in the Houston Texans, and the second -ranked defense in the Denver Broncos. They faced high-caliber defenses up until the very end, as the Seahawks were the top-scoring defense this season.

Simply put, the Patriots had to face a gauntlet of stellar defenses before meeting up with the Seahawks in the Super Bowl.

New England Patriots Coach Reflects on Loss

Vrabel took a moment to reflect on how his team played this year, as he spoke with the media after the game as transcribed by WEEI.com

“It’s only valuable if we understand what it takes and what we’re gonna need to do to improve. If we don’t do that, then it wouldn’t have been very valuable. “We had a really, really good year, and one that I’m proud of. But this game, I don’t think is a reflection of our year. We lost and we were beat, outcoached and outplayed and give them credit.”

New England Patriots Have Bright Future Ahead

The Patriots have a bright future ahead of them.  will have several free-agent decisions to make as they head to the offseason. Notable names include tight end Austin Hooper and edge defender K’Lavon Chiasson. They have 14 total pending free agents. This breaks down to seven unrestricted free agents, five restricted free agents, and three exclusive rights free agents.

With that being said, much of the core group will be returning to this roster next season. The Patriots spent the 2025 off-season building the roster for the future. Now, they have a chance to run it back with that same group, in addition to quarterback Drake Maye. Patriots may have to make some decisions this offseason, but the core group will be back.

The Patriots undoubtedly overachieved the season, and brought back stability to an organization that had been looking for continuity since the Tom Brady era. The team now has a baseline that they can go from, as they look to retool and rebuild around quarterback Maye. They took a big step as an organization, and now they will look to build upon it for 2006. The court group is there for the organization to be successful for years to come. Now, it’s going to be all about taking that next step and asserting themselves across the league.
