It shouldn’t come as a shock that Milton Williams, who grew up in Crowley, Texas just 45 minutes outside of Dallas, didn’t like the New England Patriots growing up. Williams, who is 26-years-old, was just two-years-old when the Pats won their first Super Bowl. Obviously, New England went on to win six over the next 20 years, while Williams’ Cowboys became the laughingstock of the league.
Williams made this hilarious admission at his locker on Thursday, Jan. 29:
“Y’all gonna kill me when I say this, but I did not like the Patriots,” Williams said to reporters at his locker.
That disdain for New England has dissipated now that he’s with the team, though.
“I’m here now, so I love the Patriots,” Williams said.
“Ya’ll gonna kill me when I say this, but I did not like the Patriots.”

Williams has been arguably the most impactful addition to the defense coming from last season. The Patriots pass rush faltered in previous seasons, and Williams has completely rejuvenated the unit. Despite missing five games with a high-ankle sprain in the middle of the season, Williams registered 3.5 sacks in the regular season and 2 in the playoffs and has been an integral part of the Patriots D-line on their run.
Williams Praises Tom Brady and Patriots Dynasty
Although he didn’t like the Patriots growing up, Williams admitted his deep respect for Tom Brady and New England’s legendary run of Super Bowls throughout his youth.
“I wasn’t a Tom Brady hater — you know when somebody always wins it’s like ‘man, let somebody else win,'” Williams said. “But when you really get in it and you understand what comes with it and the work you’ve got to put in to consistently be doing that over and over again, you really can’t say nothing, he’s one of the best to ever do it.”
Williams is a part of a Patriots team that is trying to start a new dynasty for the organization, and now, they’re just one step away from kickstarting the future of the franchise.
He’ll have his work cut out for him in the Super Bowl: Seattle’s offensive line was strong all season, only allowing Sam Darnold to be sacked 27 times. In comparison, Drake Maye was sacked 47 times.
Williams is one of five Patriots who have played in a Super Bowl before, alongside Mack Hollins, Christian Elliss, Carlton Davis, and Austin Hooper. Williams played in last years Super Bowl for the Philadelphia Eagles, where he registered two sacks on Patrick Mahomes as the Eagles went on to win 40-22.
Williams Under Contract With New England Through 2028
Milton Williams was one of the marquee signings the Patriots made in the 2025 offseason. New England signed him to a four-year, $104 million contract that will keep him under team control for the next three seasons.
Williams impact on the team has been undeniable. With this contract, the Patriots have a top pass rusher under control for the next three seasons, which should all be within what has become a wide-open Super Bowl window.
Williams and the Patriots will fly out to Santa Clara on Sunday, Feb. 1 to begin their preparation for Super Bowl LX against the Seattle Seahawks on Feb. 8.
