Stefon Diggs didn’t want to miss a second of Sunday night’s matchup between the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens. However, he was sidelined a few plays after landing hard on the ground following a 25-yard reception.

NFL concussion spotters flagged him, and he was taken into the blue medical tent. But he certainly did not agree with this decision.

“I was blacking out, bro,” Diggs told reporters after the game (via MassLive’s Mark Daniels). “They was holding me in the tent. They said I had a concussion, but I never touched my head. I never laid on the ground. They monitored me for a concussion. I said, ‘I never had a concussion. I was touching my shoulder. So how would y’all say had a concussion?’ So I was fighting with them to get back out there.”

He ultimately only missed five players, and NBC sideline reporter Melissa Stark humorously told the broadcast that Diggs had to be forced into the tent before eventually escaping out the back.

“I was like, I never had a concussion,” Diggs added. “They said, ‘What game is it? What quarter is it? Who’d you play last week?’ I said, ‘Listen, I don’t even remember what I ate yesterday.’”

However, Diggs admits he did go up and make nice with them after the game.

“I was fighting with them to get back out there,” he addmitted. “It’s the first drive. I’m wired to get back out there to make plays for my team. We had a little stall, so I was like, ‘Damn, I’m supposed to be out there.’ Parts of me feel like I let the team down if I’m not out there. I apologized to them afterwards, but you can’t stop me from being on that field.”.

In the win over the Ravens, Diggs finished with nine receptions, for 138 yards, which marked the third time he’s had over 100 yards in a prime time game this year.

“Prime time, my time,” Diggs said after the game. “The world is watching and I always look at it as another opportunity to show the world who I am, and how I’m coming.”

Quarterback Drake Maye also had high praise for the veteran wide receiver.

“Diggs, people have no idea what he means to this team,” Maye said. “He’s a leader. He’s been great in the locker room. He wants the football in his hand.”

Stefon Diggs Reveals What Makes This Patriots Team Special

During a postgame interview with Sunday Night Football on NBC after the game, Diggs was asked what it is about this Patriots team that is so special. And he pointed to one player in particular.

“The mindset. The fact that we believe that we can win,” Diggs said. “And we got Drake Maye. Drake Maye is a hell of a quarterback. I feel like he approaches this game like a young… I don’t wanna say his name.”

While he didn’t say, the most likely answer that could fit in there given the team they play for is Tom Brady, which is quite the comparison.
