It has been a disappointing season for the Las Vegas Raiders, and many changes are expected, starting with their head coach. So with that, it seems they will be turning towards one New England Patriots legend to help try and get the team back on track.
Tom Brady, who is a Raiders minority owner, is going to have a big say in the coaching search, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reports. And considering his experience working with numerous different coaches throughout his established career, it seems he already has a few in mind.
“There’s a rumor currently making the rounds that, once Brady rolls up his sleeves (while also wearing one glove and an expensive-ass watch), he’ll make the case for bringing in Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores,” Florio wrote. “As the chatter goes, Flores would be the head coach, and former Giants coach Brian Daboll would be the offensive coordinator. Like Flores, Daboll has extensive experience with the Patriot Way. Daboll was there for the first three Super Bowl wins of the Brady/Belichick era, and for two of the second trio of championships.”
Flores spent 11 seasons with the Patriots, having worked his way to become the defensive play-caller before leaving in 2018 to become head coach of the Miami Dolphins. As for Daboll, he was with the Patriots from 2000 to 2006 as a defensive assistant and then wide receivers coach. He returned from 2013 to 2016 as tight ends coach.

The Raiders’ job opening just became even more appealing after they clinched the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on Sunday. Las Vegas was always the most likely to get the pick, but with the New York Giants defeating the Dallas Cowboys in Week 18, they got it without even having played yet.

The two quarterbacks who are at the top of the board in the NFL Draft are Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza and Oregon’s Dante Moore. So, with the Raiders holding the No. 1 pick, it seems likely that one of these guys will be playing in Las Vegas next season.
But who will it be?
According to one NFL Insider, Brady is expected to have a heavy say in this decision.
“I’d say Brady will be involved in decision-making on the quarterback, for sure,” Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer wrote. “And I think he’d lean toward a quarterback who can win from the pocket. I don’t know quite enough yet to give you the full rundown on Mendoza and Moore, other than they’re both on the radar of teams picking high and with quarterback needs. I’m honestly not sure which of the two will go first. It’s too early for that. I have a ton of calls to make and work to do over the next few months, as usual.”
And with that, they also think Brady gave his pick away when speaking on Fox’s NFL Sunday pre-game show.
“I love everything about his game, certainly,” the seven-time Super Bowl champion said. “His leadership is what stands out to me. It’s his relatability to his teammates. He’s overcome a lot of things in his career. He’s a Miami kid, went to Cal, to Indiana. And then you go to a program that hasn’t won anything in forever. And what he’s done this season is so impressive.”
