After weeks of talks of a reunion calming down, the New York Giants once again find themselves heavily connected to Odell Beckham Jr. Amid the latest developments, one insider weighed in on how things could be progressing towards a reunion.
On April 20th, reports surfaced that the Giants brought in Beckham for a private workout. According to SNY’s Connor Hughes, the former superstar wideout performed well as he continues to work towards landing on an NFL roster for the 2026 season.
“The workout, I’m told, Beckham looked quiet good in that workout. Specifically he ran well,” Hughes said. “I’d say we now transitioned from a probably reunion to a possible one between the Giants and Beckham.”
When it comes to his desire to return to football, Beckham hasn’t been shy about wanting to suit up for the Giants again. Following his workout on Monday, the chances of him suiting up for the franchise that drafted him over a decade ago increase slightly.
Beckham, 33, last played for the Miami Dolphins during the 2024 campaign. He appeared in just nine games for the team, racking up just 55 yards and zero touchdowns in that stretch.
It Remains Unclear if the Giants Will Reunite With WR Odell Beckham
The Giants bringing in Beckham for a workout is certainly noteworthy, but it doesn’t seem like a final decision has been made on him yet. Per Hughes, there is still no offer on the table for the former Pro-Bowler to come back to New York.
Hughes cited two major roadblocks for a potential Beckham reunion. The first being that the front office already signed a handful of wideouts during free agency. Thursday’s NFL Draft is also another major factor, with the Giants being connected to numerous WR prospects.
“Nothing is imminent at the moment, I’m told that from Giants sources,” Hughes said Monday. “While ownership might want a reunion and Beckham has not hid his intentions or desires to come back to New York, there might not necessarily be a spot for him.”
NFL Insider Expects Giants to Have Continued Talks With Odell Beckham
Heading into Jaxson Dart‘s first full season as the Giants’ starting quarterback, having a veteran like Beckham could aid the offense. While the front office is fully focused on the upcoming draft, one insider expects this reunion to remain on their radar as the offseason rages on.
While appearing on “Path to the Draft” Monday, Ian Rapoport gave his thoughts on the news of the Giants bringing in the free agent wideout for a workout. Given all the talk of a possible reunion over the past month, he expects the two sides to continue discussions moving forward.
“They may add an additional receiver in Odell Beckham after his workout today,” Rapoport said. “I don’t expect to be today, but certainly I would expect the sides to keep talking over the next week or so.”
Armed with a pair of top ten picks in the draft, the Giants were already a team with a lot of eyes on them. Now, the football world will be watching intently to see if the pipe dream of a Beckham reunion becomes a reality.
