Head coach John Harbaugh of the Baltimore Ravens looks on during the fourth quarter against the Pittsburgh Steelers during the AFC Wild Card Playoff.

The New York Giants are incredibly interested in adding former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh as their next head coach.

The problem is, so are the rest of the team’s with head coach vacancies across the NFL, though.

Recent buzz had tied Harbaugh to the Giants and Miami Dolphins, but could a new team enter the fray for the former Super Bowl champion’s services?

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Green Bay Packers, who were eliminated from the postseason in a 31-27 loss to the Chicago Bears on Saturday night, could be a threat to land Harbaugh.

Matt LeFleur, despite his resume, has caught the ire of Packers fans thanks to his second-half collapse against a hated division rival.

Would the Packers Fire Matt LeFleur for John Harbaugh?

The New York Giants are going to put a full-court press on Harbaugh, the best they can, but if the Green Bay Packers job happens to open up he’ll have to reconsider his options.

On “ESPN’s NFL Postseason Countdown” Sunday morning, Schefter detailed the unfolding coaching situation in Green Bay following the blown 18-point halftime lead.

“The Green Bay Packers and their new president, Ed Policy, have a significant decision to make here in the coming days, and that is whether to extend Matt LeFleur’s contract. He’s currently got one year remaining or to move on from him. If they moved on from him, he automatically would go near the top of the coaches available and shake up this current head coaching cycle yet again. Notice how we said this belongs to the Packers’ president, Ed Policy,” reported Schefter.

“Well, the Packers’ former president back in the day was a man by the name of Bob Harlan. Bob Harlan’s son, Brian Harlan, represents John Harbaugh. John Harbaugh is a Midwestern guy who has a home in the Upper Peninsula, and a lot of people around the league have been wondering if the Packers decide to go in a different direction, if all of a sudden the Green Bay Packers might vault to the top of John Harbaugh’s list as the top available choice for him.”

With Harbaugh’s and his agent’s ties to the Packers organization, LeFleur’s job security will be something to keep an eye on in the coming days for Giants fans.

In a Packers-Harbaugh Scenario, Where Do the Giants Pivot?

In the doomsday scenario that the Green Bay Packers snatch Harbaugh from the New York Giants, where does Big Blue pivot for their next head coach?

Well, why not take a look at the guy Green Bay would let go in our hypothetical scenario?

LeFleur, despite not being in the best graces of Packers fans right now, is a darn good coach.

In seven seasons as the head coach in Titletown, the former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator has posted a 76-40-1 record, including three straight 13-win seasons to start his tenure.

His downfall has been the postseason; in nine games, he has a 3-6 record.

But his offensive ingenuity can’t be denied, and as head coach of the Giants could get the most out of Jaxson Dart than any other prospective head coach in the current cycle.
