The Jets signed Harrell on Friday, Ethan Greenberg and John Pullano of the team's official site report. Harrell totaled four receptions for 45 yards as a sixth-year senior at Miami in 2023. The Jets are thin at wide receiver going into 2024, so he could be in the competition for the last few spots on their final depth chart.
Travis, who is bouncing back from an ankle injury that he suffered last November, should be cleared for training camp, per coach Robert Saleh, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports. At this stage, Travis -- who the Jets took in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft -- continues to rebound from ankle surgery, with Cimini noting that the young QB was spotted riding a stationary bike during part of the practice that took place Friday at the start of the team's rookie minicamp. Early on in his pro career, Travis is slated to work behind the veteran duo of Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) and Tyrod Taylor, but when healthy, the Florida State product profiles as dual-threat signal-caller with intriguing playmaking ability for the Jets to develop.
According to coach Robert Saleh, Rodgers will have "no restrictions" when the Jets begin their OTA practices May 20, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports. After suffering a torn left Achilles four snaps into his first season with the Jets, Rodgers underwent surgery to address the issue Sept. 14. While the veteran signal-caller didn't see any game action prior to the conclusion of the 2023 campaign, he did practice on a limited basis down the stretch. With that in mind, it's not surprising that the 40-year-old is on track to practice in full during phase three of New York's OTAs later this month. When it comes to his supporting cast this coming season, Tyrod Taylor is slated to serve as the team's No. 2 QB, top running back Breece Hall is further removed from the ACL tear that derailed his 2022 season, and the team's wideout corps has been fortified by free-agent addition Mike Williams (knee) and 2024 third-rounder Malachi Corley. Still, Rodgers' fantasy upside hinges on whether he's able to avoid any setbacks as he looks to regain his pre-injury form.
Vera-Tucker (Achilles) said Wednesday it's "comforting" to know he'll be sticking at one position in 2024 as the Jets' starting right guard, Randy Lange of the team's website reports. Vera-Tucker will kick back inside this coming season after bouncing all over the offensive line throughout his first three years in the NFL. He served as the Jets' starting right tackle for five games in 2023 prior to sustaining a torn Achilles' tendon, but he said his rehab is going well, and the expectation is that he'll be ready to go for the start of the 2024 campaign. Barring further injuries or additions, the Jets' offensive line appears set from left to right. Tyron Smith and John Simpson will start on the left side, Joe Tippmann, will start at center, and Vera-Tucker and Morgan Moses will start on the right side.
Vera-Tucker (Achilles) is "feeling good" and is "definitely on pace for a good start to the season," Caroline Hendershot of the Jets' official site reports. Vera-Tucker suffered a torn Achilles on Oct. 8 against the Broncos, but it sounds like the veteran offensive lineman has a chance to be ready to compete once training camp comes around. Despite playing right tackle for the team last season, their selection of Olumuyiwa Fashanu in the 2024 Draft and trade for Morgan Moses, suggests Vera-Tucker may move inside and play guard in 2024.
Jets GM Joe Douglas said Saturday that the team will exercise Vera-Tucker's (Achilles) 2025 fifth-year option, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports. This was a no-brainer move for New York. Even though Vera-Tucker has 22 games over the last two seasons with significant triceps and Achilles injuries, he's been the the Jets' best lineman when on the field. Adding offensive line help has been an offseason priority for Douglas, signing LT Tyron Smith and OG John Simpson while trading for RT Morgan Moses. The Jets also selected OT Olumuyiwa Fashanu in the first round of this week's NFL Draft. Vera-Tucker was playing right tackle at the time of his season-ending torn Achilles. He figures to kick back inside to guard in 2024.
Davis agreed Thursday to re-sign with the Jets, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Davis, a 2020 third-round pick, suited up for all 17 regular-season games with New York last season. He played a reserve role on defense while also handling 394 snaps on special teams, totaling 37 tackles (23 solo), eight pass breakups, three interceptions and one forced fumble.
