The Giants signed Gipson from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Gipson signed with the Giants' practice squad after being waived by the Eagles, and the wide receiver will get his first shot with his new NFC East team in Week 18. The 24-year-old is set to be the secondary kick and punt returner behind Gunner Olszewski, and he will likely see most of his reps Sunday with the special-teams unit.
The Giants signed Gipson to their practice squad Wednesday, Dan Salomone & Matt Citak of the team's official site reports. Gipson has had a roller-coaster season. He began the campaign with the Jets before being waived Sept. 10. The wideout subsequently was claimed by the Giants, who then released him nine days later. Gipson ultimately landed with the Eagles and got into five games with them, totaling two catches on two targets for six yards while also contributing as a kick and punt returner before being cut Dec. 7. He'll now get a second look from the Giants, and if he's elevated for Sunday's matchup versus Washington, Gipson could be deployed as the team's lead return man, as Gunner Olszewski is currently in concussion protocol and was unable to practice Wednesday.
New York is expected to sign Gipson to the practice squad Wednesday, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports. Gipson was cut by Philadelphia on Monday and had previously missed Week 14 due to a shoulder injury. He practiced in full prior to being waived by the Eagles, however, so the return man and depth wideout is healthy as hes now on track to join the Giants.
