The New York Jets seemingly received some good news on the injury front coming off of the bye week.

Head coach Robert Saleh spoke to the media on Monday October 23 and provided a key update on injured offensive lineman Joe Tippmann.

Saleh was asked if this Tippmann injury was going to be a multi-week thing? He responded, “No, Tippmann is a pretty quick healer. It looked good this morning, but again we’ll see, I’ll have a much better idea for you guys on Wednesday.”

Positive News on the Jets Injury Front

Tippmann got hurt during the Week 6 contest versus the Philadelphia Eagles. Saleh didn’t seem optimistic after the game saying he might be out “a while”, according to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic.

Since the Jets were on a bye week after the Eagles game, Saleh wasn’t forced to give an injury update for over a week and a half.

Rich Cimini of ESPN added to Saleh’s words with some additional details on the injury during the bye and it didn’t sound good.

Cimini said emphatically that Tippmann, “is going to be out” and it could be a “lengthy” absence at that with what was deemed a “quadriceps tendon” injury during an appearance on “The Jake Asman Show.”

If Saleh is right, then the Jets dodged a major injury bullet in the trenches. We should get a big update on Wednesday October 25 when Saleh is set to meet with the media again.

Since Tippmann was inserted into the lineup in Week 3 as the starting right guard he had performed admirably.

According to Pro Football Focus, he registered a 63.8 overall, 45.2 pass block, and a 73.5 run block grade.

Social Media Had Some Saleh-Jets Injury Jokes Ready

Saleh has been the head coach of the Jets since 2021. During his tenure he has an uneven track record as it pertains to injuries.

If he predicts something positive, it normally ends up being bad news. While on the other side of the coin, when he has thought negatively it has turned out positive.

That troubling history has left a lot of people unsure how they should be feeling about this seemingly positive Tippmann injury update.

One fan joked on X previously Twitter that it means Tippmann’s “Leg will be amputated Thursday.”

Another fan took it a step further jokingly replying, “I now expect a ‘Joe Tippman has unfortunately passed away’ tweet from Connor Hughes by Thursday.”

A social media user said, “I’ll see you next year Tipp” assuming that he will be soon reported as out for the season.

After a troubling pattern of misinformation one fan responded, “When it comes to injuries Saleh has zero credibility.”

All of the funny responses to this injury update are something Saleh “deserves” according to one fan.

Until Saleh becomes more transparent at the podium, he will continue to receive this kind of flak from the fans. It is his prerogative whether or not he wants to play the gamesmanship of injuries at the presser, but it’s also the prerogative of the fans to respond how they see fit.
