The New York Jets are certainly a team to keep an eye on during this offseason. After a disappointing 2025 season that saw them miss the playoffs for the 15th year in a row, there is an expectation that the Jets will have themselves a busy offseason as they look to be more competitive in 2026.
The Jets also have a handful of free agents to watch from here. One of them was veteran kicker and fan favorite Nick Folk. Given how well he played this past season for the Jets, it seemed possible that they would look to bring him back.
However, that thought can now be forgotten, as Folk has found a new home in the NFC South.
Jets Lose Kicker Nick Folk to Atlanta Falcons in Free Agency
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Folk is signing a two-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons.
This is certainly tough news for the Jets, as Folk proved to be a solid pickup for the AFC East this past season. The 41-year-old is coming off a strong season with the Jets, as he successfully hit 28 out of his 29 field goal attempts this past campaign. With this, he had 96.6% field goal percentage on the season. It was also the third season in a row that he had a field goal percentage above 95%. With this, there is no question that he has been consistent, and the Jets are going to miss him tremendously.
With this signing, Folk is set to play in his 20th NFL season and for the sixth team of his NFL career.
