As the New York Jets prepare to play the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1, they just received a stern warning.
NFL Insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic revealed on Saturday, September 6, that Aaron Rodgers looks better than ever.
“I’m told [Rodgers] has quietly had a phenomenal training camp for the Steelers. Rodgers, according to folks I’ve talked with in Pittsburgh, looks refreshed, healthy, and ready to roll,” Russini shared.
She explained that there isn’t any “lingering bad blood” between the former four-time NFL MVP and the Jets, “both sides believe the split was the right move.
However, Russini did say that the Jets could ultimately regret their decision to move on from Rodgers if he “walks back into MetLife Stadium and lights it up in Week 1. It will be hard for owner Woody Johnson and even Jets fans not to think, ‘What could have been…
Rodgers Has the Perfect Opportunity to Shove It Back in the Jets’ Face
Rodgers wanted to come back, but the feeling wasn’t mutual.
Head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey decided to move on. Instead of retiring, Rodgers is making one more trip around the sun, this time around for the Steelers.
Jets quarterback Justin Fields said this week that the NFL “set us up” doing the Pittsburgh revenge angle to start the season.
The former four-time NFL MVP would love nothing more than to show up to his old stomping grounds and collect the victory. Rodgers would deliver a defeat for his ex-girlfriend while simultaneously punctuating his new journey with a victory.
Rodgers revealed that he felt “disrespected” during his final meeting with the Jets brass.

Russini has sources telling her Rodgers has looked “phenomenal” since joining the team in mid-June.
NFL Insider Matt Lombardo joined me on “Boy Green Daily” after he visited Steelers training camp and he painted a much different story.
Just my impression of Aaron Rodgers: he is not moving the way that he did even a year ago. Certainly not moving the way he did in Green Bay,” Lombardo told me.
Aaron Rodgers is a shell of a shell of the quarterback that he was back in 2023. That is a long time ago,” Lombardo said this week.
Which reporter is right? How will their observations translate to the field? Those questions will be answered in MetLife Stadium in Week 1.
One of the Keys to the Game Is Turning up the Heat on Rodgers
Rodgers struggled against the blitz last season when he was the starting QB for the Jets.
Are they gonna heat him up? Because Aaron Rodgers was really bad against the blitz: 30th in QBR [and] 33rd in yards per attempt,” ESPN’s Mina Kimes revealed on “NFL Live.
The Jets have kept their cards close to the vest on what this new defense will look like. However, early observations indicate that this team will rely a lot more on man coverage and an increased emphasis on blitzing.
