The Broncos Will Start QB Jarrett Stidham vs. Patriots in Place of an Injured Bo Nix
One of the big stories heading into championship weekend is how Jarrett Stidham will perform as the Broncos QB1 against the Patriots. Stidham replaces Bo Nix who sustained an ankle injury in the final minutes during the team’s win over the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round.
Broncos head coach Sean Payton continues to express confidence about the team’s chances in the AFC Championship despite the sudden quarterback switch.
“We have a young player, and I think there’s certain players we saw in free agency, can they come in and play and start?” Payton explained, per The Athletic’s Nick Kosmider. “Yes, I think you get that with Jarrett, but I also think you get a player who is still ascending.
“If you watch the 49ers game (a game Stidham started for the Raiders during 2022 season) … that’s impressive against a good defense. He was a priority for us, quietly. Fortunately, it worked out where we were able to get him.”
