Eagles’ AJ Brown Trade Plans Take Unexpected Turn

It appears the offseason drama between the Philadelphia Eagles and star wide receiver A.J. Brown won’t be ending anytime soon.

In fact, according to NFL insider Jason La Canfora, it may not end at all.

“Several teams remain interested in acquiring Eagles star receiver AJ Brown, according to NFL sources,” La Canfora recently wrote. “But general managers are steadfast that Philadelphia is showing no signs of coming off a very steep price for him and many executives remain unconvinced he will end up dealt.”

Brown has been vocal in his discontent with his role in the Eagles’ offense last season.

The team fired offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo after the season and replaced him with Sean Mannion, but it’s not known if that singular change was enough to persuade Brown to stick things out in Philadelphia in 2026.

Eagles Have Clear Timeline for A.J. Brown Trade

Aside from Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby, who was traded to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round picks only to have Baltimore back out of the deal last minute, Brown’s name is arguably the biggest on the trade block.

The Eagles have told teams they want first- and second-round picks plus a player in any trade involving Brown, and in addition to their astronomically high asking price, the Eagles are also working on a timeline that may not work for most teams.

“Getting anything done before the draft may be tricky; it would give the Eagles time to draft a potential replacement,” La Canfora added. “Trading Brown before June 1 would cause the Eagles to incur a massive cap charge. Brown is clearly unhappy with the situation and league sources maintain he would relish a change of scenery. It’s difficult to see that happening in the near future, however.”

One anonymous NFL general manager told La Canfora: “Howie doesn’t have to do anything now and you’re going to have to really blow him away to get it done before June 1. I do think he’ll move him for the right price, but not until June.”

There Are 4 Teams Brown Wants to Go To

If Brown does get dealt, many believe the New England Patriots are the team he’ll end up with.

Brown has a history with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel from their time together with the Tennessee Titans. And most insiders believe if there’s a coach that can keep Brown from becoming a distraction, it’s Vrabel.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer recently revealed the Patriots are one of four teams that Brown wants to be traded to. The Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and Los Angeles Chargers are the other three.

“Buffalo, having done the deal for Moore, is no longer involved,” Breer stated. “I don’t think the Chargers are either, with their focus on the offensive line and the edge positions (with a big chunk of money/cap now gone to Mack). And ditto on the Chiefs, who are zeroed in on the running back spot, and have a desire to replenish the roster with the picks they got in the McDuffie trade.”
