$68 Million Eagles Pro Bowler Called NFL’s ‘Worst Offensive Lineman’

There is an empty feeling that comes with signing a player to a massive contract extension then promptly watching them go in the tank — even worse when your season goes down the tubes.

It’s how Philadelphia Eagles fans felt watching 2-time Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens bumble and stumble through the 2025 season after he signed a 4-year, $68 million contract extension in April.

Jurgens’ struggles were particularly pronounced in a year where the entire offense struggled, and his second consecutive Pro Bowl selection caused more confusion than anything else.

“Nobody on the Eagles roster took a bigger step back than Cam Jurgens,” Bleacher Report’s Thomas Petersen wrote. “They made him 2nd highest paid Center, and for majority of the season, he was downright unplayable. Huge question mark heading into next year.”

Jurgens Vilified Online After Early Playoff Exit

Hopefully someone in Jurgens’ circle cut off his internet connection — or took his phone — after the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles lost to the San Francisco 49ers at home in the NFC Wild Card Round.

Most of the online hate for Jurgens came after Sports Content Creator Brandon Carney’s prompt on X for NFL fans: “Who was the absolute worst offensive lineman in the league this year? Like straight up turnstile, couldn’t stop a nosebleed type of guy?”

According to Pro Football Focus, Jurgens’ 63.4 overall grade this season put him 21st out of 40 eligible centers.

“Cam Jurgens on the Eagles,” Eagles fan account Bleed Green 698 wrote on X. “Worst run blocker in the league this season.”

“Cam Jurgens making the Pro Bowl this year is inexplicable,” Bleeding Green’s Brandon Lee Gowton wrote on X.

“I have no idea how Cam Jurgens made the Pro Bowl,” The Philly Pod’s Victor Williams wrote on X.

“Cam Jurgens ranked 42/42 for blocking stats among qualifying centers this year, and Tyler Steen allowed 4th most QB pressures first his position,” Eagles fan Charles Myers wrote on X. “Dickerson wasn’t much better. I love Howie, and think he’s a very talented GM, but let’s not spin his whiffs as genius.”

Jurgens in Line for Massive Roster Bonus

Jurgens somehow making the Pro Bowl makes him even richer than he was before, and he’s due a massive roster bonus in March.

“Cam Jurgens has $14.8M guaranteed on his contract as of today,” Philly Nation wrote on X. “If he’s on the roster on the third day of the league year (March 13th) he will trigger his 2027 roster bonus to become guaranteed which is $14.75 million. Jurgens also has a Pro Bowl escalator in his contract (that he of course triggered this year somehow) that raises every roster bonus by $500k. Not sure if that’s accounted for or not on the 2027 roster bonus.”

As the Eagles look for a new offensive coordinator, questions about the roster makeup will also come up — Jurgens’ struggles won’t be overlooked.

“The Eagles are 8-3, second place in the NFC and we’re asking for the following: Kevin Patullo to be replaced at OC by a coach that was in the NFL for one season before 2025,  Cam Jurgens to be benched for Brett Toth, Tank Bigsby to receive more touches,” Philly Special’s Anthony DiBona wrote on his official X account on November 24. “But it’s all fair.”
