The Philadelphia Inquirer's Devin Jackson reported the Philadelphia Eagles signed Ole Miss TE Dae'Quan Wright in undrafted free agency.

The Philadelphia Eagles landed Vanderbilt tight end Eli Stowers in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft. But the Eagles chose to address the position again with another former SEC tight end in undrafted free agency.

The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Devin Jackson reported Saturday night the Eagles signed Ole Miss tight end Dae’Quan Wright as an undrafted free agent.

It was arguably one of the top additions the Eagles made in NFL undrafted free agency — at least in the first 20 hours after the 2026 NFL Draft.

Both The Athletic’s Dane Brugler and NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein predicted Wright to be a late-round draft pick. On Sunday, PhillyVoice’s Jimmy Kempski was highly complimentary of Wright as a pass-catcher.

“Wright made big plays all season for Ole Miss, with 39 receptions for 635 yards and 5 TDs,” wrote Kempski. “He had receptions of at least 25 yards in each of his first five games of the 2025 season, and finished with 16.3 yards per catch as a tight end.

“Wright has versatility, as Lane Kiffin lined him up all over the formation. The consensus is that Wright has some work to do as a blocker.”

Wright registered 113 catches, 1,603 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in 47 career college games.

There’s little doubt Stowers is the biggest tight end addition the Eagles made over draft weekend. With Vanderbilt, Stowers made the All-American team last season with 62 receptions, 769 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

But Wright was an SEC big-play threat in his own right during his college career. In 2025, Wright posted 16.3 yards per catch with 39 receptions. He also had 635 receiving yards with five touchdowns.

Wright began his college career at Virginia Tech. He had 47 receptions and 574 receiving yards in two seasons with the Hokies.

The tight end finished his college career at Ole Miss the past two seasons. He scored nine touchdowns in 28 games overall.

Wright was one of just two offensive players the Eagles initially signed in undrafted free agency. The other was another former SEC player — Alabama guard Jaeden Roberts.

The Eagles also signed an Alabama linebacker in undrafted free agency — Deontae Lawson. Wright and the Crimson Tide linebacker were the two biggest high-profiled players the Eagles added initially after the draft.

Philadelphia also signed cornerback Kapena Gushiken, edge rusher Joshua Weru, long snapper Rocco Underwood, safety Maximus Pully and fellow safety Tucker Large.

Wright and Gushiken were teammates at Ole Miss.

Eagles TE Depth After 2026 NFL Draft

Philadelphia brought back veteran tight end Dallas Goedert after his terrific 2025 campaign. Goedert led the Eagles with a career-high 11 touchdowns.

But Goedert turned 31 in January. With no future succession plan at tight end in place, the Eagles were expected to make the position a priority in the 2026 NFL Draft.

They did that with Stowers. Wright, though, gives the organization addition depth.

In 2026 NFL free agency, the Eagles also re-signed veteran tight end Grant Calcaterra. Stowers and Calcaterra could compete for opportunities behind Goedert during this fall.

The Eagles also have tight ends Cameron Latu, E.J. Jenkins, Johnny Mundt, Stone Smartt, and Jaheim Bell on their offseason roster.
