The Philadelphia Eagles rightfully invested plenty of money into their superstar defensive lineman, Jalen Carter.

The team made NFL history by giving Carter a four-year extension, worth $152.0 million, coming to an AAV of $38.0 million. Carter is guaranteed to lock in at least $106.8 million with his new deal.

According to a report, the veteran tackle had a handful of incentives he could gain as well, which add up to $4 million.

Per Spotrac, Carter has a maximum of $4 million in escalators for the 2030 and 2031 seasons.

Carter could earn bonuses for having at least eight sacks, a Pro Bowl/All-Pro nod, and Defensive Player of the Year honors.

In addition to the performance bonuses, Carter also has the weight clause, which was previously reported.

The veteran defensive tackle has to pass a weigh-in five times a year. There is a $50,000 bonus attached for each weigh-in, according to Spotrac.

More Reasons To Dominate

The 25-year-old star doesn’t necessarily need motivation to be a dominant presence on the Eagles’ defense. He didn’t score one of the richest contracts at his position for nothing.

However, a little incentive to keep a player extra motivated never hurt.

Coming out of Georgia in 2023, Carter was the No. 9 pick in the NFL Draft for the Eagles. Many considered Carter a steal, and the tape backed it up.

As a rookie, Carter was the runner-up for the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. By year two, Carter was a Pro Bowler, with an All-Pro nod. He landed Pro Bowl honors again in 2025.

So far, Carter has been able to check off one of the three boxes. When it comes to Defensive Player of the Year, he was No. 12 in voting during the 2024 season. As far as sacks go, Carter’s career-high is 6.0. Last season, he produced just half of that number with five fewer appearances.
