Before the Philadelphia Eagles‘ Super Bowl LIX victory, Nick Foles was the only quarterback in the franchise’s history with a Super Bowl win.
Jalen Hurts and the Eagles took down the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024, which marked Hurts’ second Super Bowl appearance.
In both games, Hurts put together special performances, and when the second one was up, the veteran quarterback was named the game’s MVP.
Based on everything that Foles has seen over time, he’s confident in considering Hurts not only a tier two “elite contender” in the NFL currently, but the future Eagles GOAT.

“We have him higher than probably most people. We had him in elite based on his statistics throughout his career, throughout his games. He’s going to go down as the greatest Eagles quarterback of all time,” Foles stated on The SZN.
“The reason he’s in elite contender for me is like he’s proven it. I feel like he’s shown he can win a Super Bowl, taking the team to two Super Bowls, the Super Bowl MVP. He’s a great leader. He brings it every day. You can tell by training camp he has the respect in the locker room.”
While Foles comes up just short of considering Hurts a tier one, surefire elite quarterback, he gives an intriguing reason why.
“He deserves to be in this elite contender, and the reason I have him here and not elite is he’s going to get better,” the former quarterback said.
Jalen Hurts Through Six NFL Seasons
Although Hurts was expected to begin his season as a backup to Carson Wentz, playing a gadget role, he ended up with four starts as a rookie when the former second-overall pick struggled.
The Eagles traded Carson Wentz in 2021 and named Hurts the starter. Since then, the former Oklahoma product hasn’t lost the keys to the offense.
At this point, Hurts is 57-25 as a starter. He has completed 64.4% of his passes for 17,891 yards, 110 touchdowns and 45 interceptions.
On the ground, Hurts has rushed 779 times for 3,554 yards and 63 touchdowns. He is a three-time Pro Bowler, one-time All-Pro, a Super Bowl champion, and a Super Bowl MVP.
