Days before the Eagles’ win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, news broke about the couple’s engagement. Barkley emphasized that the couple had been engaged for “like six months” before going public with the personal announcement.
“I’m just not good with stuff like that (proposal),” Barkley remarked during a February 4, interview with People’s Gabrielle Rockson and Alex Ross. “I’m a lover boy, but I’m not like a clever lover boy.
“… This is not new by the way. I know it just broke the other day but I’ve been engaged for like six months.”

Amid the Eagles’ Super Bowl run, Congdon shared her excitement on social media. After the Super Bowl, Congdon posted family photos with Barkley holding the Lombardi Trophy.
“Dear God, thank you for this moment,” Congdon noted in the February 11, Instagram message.
Heading into the Super Bowl, Congdon also celebrated the moment as the Eagles punched their ticket to New Orleans.
“If I could wrap my arms around this memory, I would,” Congdon said on January 27, posting photos from the Eagles’ on-field celebration following the NFC Championship.
