The Athletic's Zach Berman reported the Philadelphia Eagles released offensive lineman Xavier Truss and defensive back Dean Clark from their practice squad Tuesday.

The Philadelphia Eagles continued their roster juggling Tuesday after falling to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7.

The Athletic’s Zach Berman reported the Eagles parted ways with two practice squad players Tuesday afternoon. The team moved on from both defensive back Dean Clark and offensive tackle Xavier Truss.

Philadelphia added both of those players to its practice squad just two weeks ago.

“The Eagles opened two spots on practice squad, releasing DB Dean Clark and T Xavier Truss,” wrote Berman.

In the two weekends those players spent with Philadelphia, they didn’t get a chance to play in a game. Truss, who stands at 6-foot-7 and 320 pounds, last appeared in the NFL regular season with the New Orleans Saints last year. Clark played for the New York Jets last season.

The Eagles confirmed Berman’s report Tuesday afternoon, announcing the release of Truss and Clark.

Truss began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos in 2025. The tackle didn’t make the team’s roster after the 2025 preseason, but he earned an opportunity with the Saints.

New Orleans claimed the offensive tackle off waivers in late August 2025. Truss spent the entire 2025 regular season on the Saints active roster.

He dressed for seven games. Truss didn’t receive an offensive snap and lined up for 30 snaps on special teams.

After the Saints waived Truss following the 2026 preseason, the lineman joined the Cleveland Browns practice squad in mid-September. Like Philadelphia, Truss spent a few weeks with the Browns practice squad before his release. Truss didn’t play in any games for Cleveland.

The lineman will become a free agent available to sign with any team.

Truss played college football at Georgia, where he was part of back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022.

Philadelphia Also Cuts DB Dean Clark

Clark has had a similar path in the NFL to Truss. The defensive back was an undrafted free agent last year as well. After not making the Jets roster after the 2025 preseason, he joined the team’s practice squad.

Clark made his NFL debut as a practice squad elevation in Week 3. The defensive back joined the active roster in early November.

Over his rookie season, Clark played in 12 games for New York, making two starts. He posted 14 combined tackles. Clark played 180 defensive snaps and 172 on special teams.

Like Truss, Clark is now a free agent.

In college, Clark played four seasons at Kent State and two at Fresno State from 2019-24. He posted a career-best 117 combined tackles with Kent State during 2021. The defensive back had three interceptions and four pass defenses in 2023 with Fresno State.

He finished his college tenure with 59 games played for the two universities.
