The Pittsburgh Steelers will conclude their pre-draft visits for the 2026 NFL Draft on Wednesday. Before doing so, they will host one more quarterback in the 2026 draft class — Penn State’s Drew Allar.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Wednesday morning Allar will be at the team’s facility on the final day for pre-draft visits.
“Former Penn State QB Drew Allar is visiting the Steelers today, per source,” wrote Pelissero.
“As Pittsburgh awaits a decision from Aaron Rodgers, it has now hosted most of the draft’s top QB prospects on visits, which conclude today.”

Allar completed 63.2% of his passes for an average of 7.4 yards per attempt in 45 games at Penn State. During his junior season, he threw for 3,327 passing yards with 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions while averaging 8.4 yards per attempt. He led the Nittany Lions to the College Football Playoffs semifinals.
Last season, he only played six games because of an ankle injury.
In addition to playing college football in Pennsylvania, Allar is from Medina, Ohio. While closer to Cleveland, Medina is about two hours away from Pittsburgh.
Allar is the fourth quarterback the Steelers have hosted for a pre-draft visit this spring. The team also had Miami’s Carson Beck, North Dakota State’s Cole Payton and Arkansas’s Taylen Green into Pittsburgh for visits.

Similar to a couple other quarterback prospects in the 2026 class, Allar was formerly held in higher regard. At one point, pundits considered him a potential first-round pick.
This offseason, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. ranked Allar the No. 4 quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft class. But the class is supposed to be rather weak.
NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein projected Allar to be a fourth-round selection.
“Allar looks the part with prototypical size and an effortless arm that can make any NFL throw. However, inconsistent touch and ball placement are a major hindrance,” wrote Zierlein. “In big moments and big games, he hasn’t proven he can rise to the occasion or sustain efficiency.
“Mechanical fixes are possible, but confidence, poise and recognition must be the foundation of any rebound. Allar projects as an average backup with high-end traits.”

One of the biggest questions of the 2026 NFL Draft is whether the Steelers will target a signal-caller.
Based on the team’s pre-draft visits, the Steelers appear very interested in selecting a quarterback. But, it seems unlikely they will do so in the first or even second round.
While the Steelers hosted four of the top seven quarterbacks on Kiper’s 2026 NFL Draft big board, they didn’t have either of the top two — Fernando Mendoza or Ty Simpson — in for visits.
Just because Simpson didn’t come to Pittsburgh for a visit doesn’t mean the Steelers couldn’t take him. But with a week to go until the draft, the expectation is the team will wait on a quarterback until later on Day 2 or Day 3.
The Steelers have a league-leading 12 selections in the 2026 NFL Draft. They have five picks in the third and fourth rounds, which is probably the likeliest time for the team to grab a signal-caller.
This offseason, the Steelers have Mason Rudolph and Will Howard on their quarterback depth chart. The team could also re-sign Aaron Rodgers.
If Rodgers returns, he is expected to start in Pittsburgh for just one more season. That’s why the team is potentially in the market for a possible long-term solution behind center this offseason.
