Because of perennial All-Pro Chris Boswell, undrafted rookie kicker Laith Marjan had about a zero percent chance of making the Pittsburgh Steelers roster this month. The team made that official this weekend.
The Steelers announced Sunday they waived Marjan from their preseason roster. Team insiders Nick Farabaugh and Alex Kozora confirmed the news on X.
“Steelers now have an open 90-man roster spot after releasing UDFA rookie Laith Marjan of Kansas,” wrote Steelers.com’s Brian Batko on X. “Who handled the kicking duties Friday night.”
In Friday’s preseason contest versus the New York Jets, Marjan missed his only attempt. That was a 44-yard field goal in the third quarter.
The Steelers lost to the Jets 17-0.
Marjan joined the team as an undrafted free agent after the 2026 NFL Draft. He kicked at Kansas during his senior college season.
In college, Marjan also kicked for East Carolina and South Alabama over his four-year career.
