Former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Rayshawn Jenkins didn’t remain unemployed for long. The safety also didn’t have to leave the division to find a new job.
Less than a week after his Steelers release, Jenkins is signing with the Baltimore Ravens. NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported the transaction Monday afternoon.
“The 10-year veteran has started 92 career games and brings much-needed depth to Baltimore’s secondary,” wrote Schultz on X.
The NFL transaction wire confirmed the signing. The Ravens officially added Jenkins to their practice squad Monday.
According to his Pro Football Reference page, Jenkins has started 93 games in his NFL career. His most recent start was with the Steelers in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Steelers signed Jenkins with the same idea as Baltimore — for additional safety depth — during late July. Pittsburgh released Jenkins on October 20 with DeShon Elliott’s return imminent. Elliott made his season debut, playing 19 defensive snaps, in Paris against the New Orleans Saints.
Jenkins appeared in six games for Pittsburgh before his release. He registered 16 combined tackles. His last defensive snap came in the Week 4 matchup against the Cleveland Browns, which was a 27-24 loss.
The Steelers will host the Browns in the rivalry’s rematch this Sunday.
Ex-Steelers Safety Rayshawn Jenkins Signs With Ravens

The Ravens will actually be the safety’s the third AFC North team. The tenures have been consecutive as well, as he’s made his way around the division.
Last season, Jenkins started three games for the Browns. He appeared in all 17 contests during the 2025 regular season, posting 45 combined tackles. The safety also had one pass defense and one interception.
Jenkins began his NFL career as a fourth-round pick for the Las Angeles Chargers. The Chargers picked the safety at No. 113 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Jenkins spent four seasons with the Chargers, becoming a starter for the club during his final two years. He then joined the Jacksonville Jaguars for three years.
In 2022 with the Jaguars, the safety posted a career-high 116 combined tackles and 12 pass defenses. He also had three interceptions, which matched a career-best from the 2019 campaign.
Since leaving Jacksonville, Jenkins has filled in as a starter on more of a part-time basis. He started nine games out of the 13 he played for the Seattle Seahawks in 2024. The following season, the safety began his tour around the AFC North.
During Week 4, the Steelers benched Jenkins after he made a mistake in coverage against the Browns. Since then, sixth-round rookie Robert Spears-Jennings has been starting at safety for Pittsburgh.
Spears-Jennings intercepted a pass against the Browns during the second half of that contest. The Steelers have also continued to start Jaquan Brisker, and now Elliott is back in the fold as well.
The Ravens added Jenkins a day after losing their second straight AFC North contest. Baltimore fell to the Cincinnati Bengals 35-13 in Week 7. The Ravens defense allowed five touchdowns in the second half of that matchup.
