Life has become extra busy for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, and part of those responsibilities is worth more than his recent five-year, $265 million deal with the team.
Purdy and his wife, Jenna, welcomed their first child, Millie Joleen, in late July. The fourth-year quarterback told the media about his big news Friday at training camp.
“I still really can’t describe it,” Purdy told reporters. “Just how awesome it is coming home and seeing little baby girl and holding her and her sleeping on me. There’s nothing better. No gift can compare. And seeing Jenna (Purdy) and how she’s been awesome as a mom, just all of it all together. It’s so good.”

Purdy’s daughter was born on July 28 at 2:58 p.m., and she was named for her grandmother, Ludmilla. Before the arrival, Purdy admits he had the call about going to the hospital in the back of his mind throughout camp.
“I woke up that morning and my wife had her doula over at the house and they were like, ‘No, this baby’s coming today.’ I was like, ‘All right.’ So, I called, (Kyle) Shanahan and (Mick) Lombardi and said, ‘Guys, I won’t be able to make it. I think it’s getting real.’ They said, ‘Enjoy it and be there for her.’ Then sure enough, our baby came that day,” Purdy said.
Purdy’s life has evolved significantly on and off the field since his time with the 49ers when the team made him the final pick of the 2022 draft. He emerged as the team’s starter after injuries to former quarterback Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo in 2022, and Purdy also got engaged and married to Jenna Purdy, his college girlfriend, during the past two years.
“There’s so much stuff that has happened in my life off the field for sure, but to come in the building and keep it simple and play football, I feel like it’s really good for me,” Purdy said. “I come here and I get my mind back on what matters and stepping out on the field and competing and playing the game that I love. There’s a new goal with a new team this year, so there’s a chip on all of our shoulders right now so when I come here to work I hone in on what my job is and it feels good.”
“Obviously, when I go home it’s great seeing my family too,” he added.

Purdy has developed chemistry with running back Christian McCaffrey over the past three seasons, and they now have more in common as new fathers. McCaffrey and his wife, Olivia Culpo, welcome their daughter, Colette Annalise McCaffrey on July 13.
“Christian and I have talked about it in the past, a couple years ago even, how it’d be sweet to have kids remember us playing in the NFL and go to work with dad and this is our work,” Purdy said. “So, it’s pretty cool. Hopefully, we can all have our kids grow up together.”
