nd just like that, the 2025 NFL season is over. An eventful six month season ended with the Seattle Seahawks winning their second Super Bowl in franchise history and hoisting the Lombardi Trophy at Levi’s Stadium. Behind a dominant defense and strong play from the offense, the Seahawks are now the kings of the NFL and will look to defend their title in 2026.
But the Super Bowl is not what it is without its famous halftime show. For decades, the storyline of the Super Bowl is the halftime show, where the world’s biggest celebrities have graced the stage, from Michael Jackson to Rihanna, and so many others. This year, Grammy Award winner Bad Bunny was the halftime show performer, and delivered a memorable performance. But it was what Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, was wearing that drew attention. And now, a couple of days after his memorable show, Ocasio is revealing the story behind his outfit– while revealing his favorite NFL team in the process.
Bad Funny’s Outfit
Coming out on stage in a white football jersey looking shirt, donning the name ‘OCASIO’ with the number 64, Bad Bunny revealed why he wore that outfit– to honor his uncle, his mother’s brother, who passed away a couple of years ago, shortly after the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs faced off in Super Bowl LVIII. His uncle, who taught him football and would watch games with him, was a 49ers fan and in turn, Bad Bunny said he wants to see the team win a Super Bowl of their own.
“My uncle passed away two years ago, shortly after the 49ers lost to Kansas City in the 2024 Super Bowl,” Bad Bunny said. “I always dreamed of taking my uncle to a Super Bowl and I couldn’t. He left unexpectedly, without warning. So during my Super Bowl halftime show, I decided to have him on my shirt: OCASIO, his last name, the same as my mother’s, and his birth year, 64. I dedicated my performance to him before it began. I’m sure he saw it, he was present, and he felt proud of his nephew. Now all that’s left is the day the 49ers win another Super Bowl.”
Bad Bunny’s performance at the halftime show featured numerous guest appearances from other celebrities including Lady Gaga, Jessica Alba, Ricky Martin and others and saw Bad Bunny share his Latino heritage with the world. This is the second Super Bowl that Bad Bunny performed at, featured as a guest performer for Jennifer Lopez and Shakira’s halftime show during Super Bowl LV in 2020.
49ers’ 2025 Season
The 49ers’ ’25 season was relatively successful, with the franchise finishing 12-5 and returning to the playoffs after a one year absence. Still, a rash of injuries to several star players including Fred Warner, George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk and many others forced the 49ers to play their hand, ending with a heartbreaking 41-6 loss to the Seahawks in the NFC Divisional Round playoffs. But with some of those stars set to return for next year, the 49ers are hungry to return to Super Bowl contention.
