The San Francisco 49ers entered the NFL offseason with a decision to make about wide receiver Jauan Jennings.

With Brandon Aiyuk on his way out of town, there were many who thought that John Lynch could re-sign Jennings this offseason. After landing Mike Evans in a blockbuster free agency move, that option doesn’t seem terribly likely for the 49ers.

Jennings is widely expected to leave town. He has received interest from quite a few teams, with the Minnesota Vikings being one of the most rumored to be his next team.

Keeping that in mind, NFL.com has named the NFC West rival Seattle Seahawks as the best possible landing spot for Jennings this offseason.

49ers Seeing Jauan Jennings Sign With Seahawks Would Be a Nightmare

Even though San Francisco isn’t expected to re-sign Jennings, that doesn’t mean he isn’t a very good wide receiver. The 49ers simply may not have the money to spend on another wideout after signing Evans.

During the 2025 NFL season with San Francisco, the 28-year-old wide receiver played in 15 games. He caught 55 passes for 643 yards and nine touchdowns. That production came one year after catching 77 passes for 975 yards and six scores in 2024.

Jennings may not be a No. 1 wideout, but he’s a quality No. 2. Joining the defending champion Seahawks would give Sam Darnold another weapon alongside of Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Rasheed Shaheed.

Every team’s worst-case scenario is to see key players leave town to sign with a division rival. Jennings landing in Seattle would give him a chance to prove the 49ers wrong for not paying up to keep him around.

San Francisco’s Wide Receiver Room Is Shaping Up Nicely

Despite likely parting ways with Jennings, San Francisco has to be feeling good about its wide receiver room. Brock Purdy has received more help from the 49ers this offseason.

Evans is the clear-cut No. 1 target in San Francisco. However, the 49ers have a good amount of talent behind him in Ricky Pearsall, Christian Kirk, rookie De’Zhaun Stribling, and Demarcus Robinson.

On the outside looking in, the unit should be improved from last season.

At the end of the day, losing Jennings will not be a devastating blow for San Francisco. Losing him to the Seahawks would be more painful, but he wouldn’t be the reason the 49ers don’t contend for a Super Bowl if that scenario plays out.

It will be interesting to see where Jennings ends up signing. Both Seattle and the Vikings seem to be serious teams to keep an eye on.
