The Seattle Seahawks replaced their Super Bowl MVP with running back Jadarian Price, and the rookie is ready to get to work defending the title.
The team took to social media to share news of Price’s arrival at the team facility for the first offseason practices of his career. The announcement came just weeks after the Seahawks used their first-round draft pick to land the Notre Dame running back, who is expected to take on a major role in the backfield in the 2026 season.
Seahawks Announce Jadarian Price’s Arrival
The team took to X to share a video showing Price arriving at the team facility, rolling a suitcase behind him. The video showed Price being fitted for his helmet in the equipment room and posing with his No. 8 jersey before greeting some players and members of the coaching staff.
The Seahawks shared other pictures of their rookies arriving for the start of rookie minicamp. The team noted that the practices are something of a formality for Price, whose spot in the depth chart is an “iron-clad lock” after his first-round pick.
The large group of undrafted free agents joining Price have their work cut out for them, however.
“This is such a great time of year with new faces, draft picks, rookie camp this week,” head coach Mike Macdonald said. “Just a lot of excitement with the new team, and this is really what kicks it all off.”
Macdonald said the team has regularly found talented players among the group of undrafted free agents who will arrive for minicamp.
“It’s multi-faceted,” Macdonald said of the rookie minicamp. “With the guys we know are going to be here, it’s an introduction to how we do things here in Seattle. And it’s such a great opportunity to see some of the tryout guys as well. We have a pretty good history of finding some of these players—when you talk about being 70, 90, 105 players deep, that’s going to be needed. Whether we want to stick with us right now, or be in the bullpen, so to speak, where they’re one of the first guys we call. I think of guys like Jamie Sheriff that are still with us now. This is a great weekend, you’re finally back on the grass. There’s a lot to be fired up for.”
Jadarian Price Faced Tough Decision
Price decided to enter the NFL draft rather than return for another season at Notre Dame, one where he would have led the backfield after the departure of teammate Jeremiyah Love to become the No. 2 pick in the NFL draft.
As he arrived at Seahawks minicamp, Price said he knew he made the right decision.
“It was in my heart to stay at Notre Dame,” Price said. “It’s the place I love and to build relationships with the guys in the locker room. What we had done the year before going to the National Championship, that’s what I wanted to do and that’s why I wanted to stay there. But also I made a challenge to myself to split reps with the best player in college football and I did that, and I showed that I can do it at the highest level. Sitting here now, it’s the greatest decision I could have made.”
