The Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward found himself at the center of a viral moment following another frustrating loss. Now, Ward has offered an interesting response to all the attention surrounding his behavior.
Tennessee fell 24-18 to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, dropping the Titans to 0-4. After the game, Ward arrived at the podium before reporters had finished conducting interviews inside the locker room. The Titans’ livestream captured Ward waiting, tapping his fingers and saying he was going to walk out if the wait continued.
Ward ultimately stayed and conducted his press conference, but the brief moment quickly spread across social media. When asked about the attention on Wednesday, Ward didn’t exactly seem interested in defending himself or explaining the situation.
“I mean, they’re talking about that. That’s something for them to talk about,” Ward said, via AtoZ Sports Nashville. “If they need something to talk about, we’d rather them talk about that than our performance. So we’re just trying to put a good product on the field.”
Cam Ward Is More Concerned About Titans’ Performance
It was a strange answer, but perhaps an understandable one considering where the Titans currently stand.
Ward seemingly would rather have outsiders discussing his behavior at the podium than Tennessee’s continued struggles on the field. That doesn’t make the viral moment disappear, but it does reveal where the young quarterback’s priorities appear to be.
There was also more context surrounding the situation than the viral clip initially showed. Reporters were still interviewing Titans players in the locker room when Ward arrived at the podium. They arrived shortly afterward, and Ward remained to answer their questions.

Still, everything Ward does is going to receive attention as the face of the franchise. The former No. 1 overall pick is attempting to develop while Tennessee searches for answers during another difficult start.
Ward completed 20 of 31 passes for 222 yards, one touchdown and one interception against Baltimore. Tennessee trailed 24-7 before making things interesting late, but the comeback ultimately fell short.
That result appears to be far more important to Ward than the conversation surrounding his postgame demeanor.
There will always be cameras following an NFL starting quarterback, especially one carrying the expectations Ward has in Tennessee. His podium moment might have gone viral, but his response made one thing clear: Ward would much rather change the conversation by giving Titans fans something better to watch on Sundays.
