Entering the upcoming NFL free agency market, the Washington Commanders are expected to be an aggressive contender in the wide receiver market.

It has become clear that the Commanders want to aggressively build around young star quarterback Jayden Daniels. To accomplish that goal, the front office needs to give him the best weapons that it possibly can.

Deebo Samuel, who was acquired last offseason in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers, is set to become a free agent. With that in mind, Washington has been connected to quite a few different wide receiver options in free agency.

ESPN’s John Keim has now revealed five names the Commanders are targeting.

Washington Commanders Eyeing Five Wide Receivers in Free Agency

Keim has reported that there are five names worth watching this offseason for Washington. Those five wideouts are Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings, Romeo Doubs, Alec Pierce, and Rashid Shaheed.

Any of those options would be good additions for the Commanders.

Washington has the cap room to make an aggressive push this offseason. After making a run to the NFC Championship Game two years ago, the Commanders missed the playoffs last season. Daniels missed time due to injury and only played in seven games, which was a big part of the step back.

With that being said, let’s take a look at each wide receiver mentioned as a target for Washington.

Taking a Closer Look at the Free Agency WR Options

Both Aiyuk and Jennings spent the 2025 season with the 49ers. Aiyuk didn’t play a single game all year long, while Jennings caught 55 passes for 643 yards and nine touchdowns in 15 games played.

Either option would be good for Daniels. Aiyuk has previously hinted at interest in playing for the Commanders as well.

Doubs is one of the most intriguing free agents available on the wide receiver market. Over the last four years with the Green Bay Packers, the 25-year-old receiver has caught 202 passes for 2,424 yards and 21 touchdowns. With an increased role, Doubs’ potential is through the roof.

Pierce enjoyed a breakout season in 2025 with the Indianapolis Colts. He racked up 47 receptions for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns, averaging an impressive 21.3 yards per catch. The Colts would like to re-sign him, but Washington could give them a run for their money.

Finally, Shaheed is fresh off of winning a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks. He’s a good wide receiver, but is elite as a special teams return man. Shaheed caught 59 passes for 687 yards and two scores last season.

It will be interesting to see what the Commanders choose to do this offseason. Mike Evans has also been rumored to be a potential target.

Expect to continue hearing rumors coming out of Washington. At this point in time, it seems likely that the Commanders will make a splash at the wide receiver position.
