A fresh round of Boston Bruins rumors posits that the club has been one of many to check in on St. Louis Blues center Robert Thomas.

Just about every team in the league has taken a swing at Thomas, with varying degrees of interest. In the Bruins’ case, it doesn’t seem like those conversations got very far.

According to a report from James Murphy in RG Media, the Blues’ price tag effectively put the kibosh on any Bruins rumors involving Thomas.

The astronomical price tag was too much for the Bruins to stomach. In addition to the team’s 2026 first-round pick, two high-end prospects were among the pieces coveted by the Blues.

“For the Bruins, it is believed the cost would be top prospect James Hagens, the Bruins’ 2026 first-round pick, and current center Fraser Minten.”

While Thomas is a rare find, landing him at the expense of James Hagens and Fraser Minten may undermine the prospect pipeline Don Sweeney so aptly built last season.

Still, one of Murphy’s anonymous sources offered this additional thought on these Bruins rumors:

“If the Bruins could offer Letourneau instead of Hagens, I think they might do that, but then again, they really love what they’ve found in Minten too, and either way it disrupts the balance up the middle, but you gotta pay to get, and Thomas is a stud.”

It remains unclear if the Bruins will eventually pony up to get Thomas. For now, it seems that the Blues are sitting on their hands, waiting for someone to blink.

Bruins Rumors Continue Churning Ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline

One of the names that has picked up some steam over the last couple of days in Bruins rumors is Simon Nemec. The New Jersey Devils blueliner isn’t believed to be officially on the market. Still, he could become available if the Devils look to seriously sell.

Nemec and Jonathan Kovacevic could be two names to look out for as the Bruins look to bolster their blue line.

For now, the speculation surrounding Bruins rumors is just chatter. There doesn’t seem to be a serious deal in the works for now.

Things Could Change Leading Up to the Trade Deadline

Things could certainly change in the hours leading up to the NHL trade deadline. Brins rumors should pick up in the coming days as it’s becoming increasingly clear that Boston has a solid shot at the postseason.

That said, the biggest question marks will center on the club’s apparent lack of depth. There are several spots the Bruins would like to address. But there just isn’t enough runway remaining this season. Plus, the available supply really doesn’t offer much for Boston at the moment.

Still, fans should keep their eyes open for new Bruins rumors. There could be something that pundits haven’t seen, potentially leading to a surprise twist by Friday at 3 pm. In the meantime, fans will just have to play the waiting game while GMs across the league jockey for position.
