WWE Champion CM Punk had a rare moment of breaking character to curse out a fan for heckling him at WWE Raw. The special episode in Madison Square Garden featured a closing segment of Punk getting the better of his upcoming WrestleMania 42 opponent Roman Reigns in a physical segment. Punk closed the show by standing tall over Reigns on the commentary table.
However, one fan kept yelling at Punk with fans recording the moment. Punk ended up reacting to all the insults by cursing out the fans with a vicious insult:
“F*** you, buddy. This is the Garden. The marquee says wrestling, not cinema, you ****ing idiot.”
Fans in New York City are known for heckling athletes in team sports, but it clearly applies to wrestling as well. Punk and most WWE stars typically ignore a heckling fan to avoid making it a story. However, Punk felt it was worth having some fun with the heckler.
The Reigns fan kept yelling things like “you suck” and “you’re old” to upset Punk, and it worked enough to get a loud response. Punk even made a lewd gesture to mock the fan while talking some trash about Roman and his fan base.

Reigns’ fans often cite “cinema” over wrestling as what they seek from the professional wrestling experience. Punk has tried to identify as one of the names who most represent the wrestling side of the business by paying a nod to old school storytelling.
