WWE star Je'Von Evans could make history at WM42

High-flying WWE star Je’Von Evans has been among the most popular stars since being promoted from NXT to the main roster.

Signed to WWE at just 19 years old, Evans has already compiled an extensive highlight reel in just two years. He has competed for championship gold on NXT and was the longest active participant in this year’s Royal Rumble.

He has competed in a singles match against Randy Orton and, later, a tag team bout against AJ Styles and Dragon Lee. Je’Von Evans is the youngest Elimination Chamber participant.

At WrestleMania 42, he aims to become the youngest Intercontinental Champion, too.

Currently, that distinction belongs to WWE icon Jeff Hardy, who defeated Triple H for the title in April 2001 on SmackDown when he was 23 years old. Hardy’s status as the youngest Intercontinental Champion has stood for a quarter-century.

The Young OG Je’Von Evans said on Instagram that he intends to win the six-man ladder match at WrestleMania 42. Doing so would make Evans, 21, the youngest Intercontinental Champion.

“First WrestleMania, Youngest on the Card, and about to be Youngest IC Champ,” Evans posted on Instagram, along with a poster to the six-man ladder match he’s competing in.

When WrestleMania 42 kicks off in Las Vegas, Evans will be the youngest star on the card. He is half the age of WrestleMania itself.

Je’Von Evans Says Jeff Hardy is His Biggest Influence

When watching Je’Von Evans soar off the top rope, it’s easy to see shades of Jeff Hardy in the Young OG. Both WWE stars are extremely acrobatic and use their insane hops to inflict damage.

Plus, both fighters are immense baby faces who instanly became fan favorites. During a podcast interview, Je’Von Evans praised Jeff Hardy as the “biggest influence” to his wrestling style.

“Jeff [Hardy] was just so himself. When Jeff [Hardy] was [active], there was nobody like him. There was only one Jeff Hardy and everybody knew who he was.”

While the fearless Hardy was the largest influence, Evans said that his style is a blend of past wrestlers and his own creativity.

“I study the game. I study wrestling so much that I’ll watch somebody do something and think … how can I add my own flavor and my own swag to it?”

Since his main roster debut, Je’Von Evans has wrestled alongside (and against) multiple WWE luchadors, who complement his style well.

His rivalry with El Grande Americano and Los Americanos has highlighted just how agile Evans can be. Notably, his match against Bravo Americano produced one of the best wrestling spots of the year.

If anyone is capable (and deserving) of dethroning Jeff Hardy as the youngest Intercontinental Champion, it’s Evans.

He’s one of the most celebrated wrestlers on the roster, and Allegiant Stadium will almost certainly pop if he wins the title.

To win, Evans will have to win the first ladder match of his WWE career. He will compete against JD McDonagh, Rusev, Dragon Lee, Rey Mysterio and the reigning champion Penta in a six-man ladder match at WrestleMania 42.
