UFC featherweight prospect Jose Delgado reacted to getting booked to fight Jean Silva in the main event of Noche UFC.
With Yair Rodriguez out of the fight due to injury, Delgado is in and will fight Silva in the main event of Noche UFC, which takes place on September 12 at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
It is, by far, the biggest fight of Delgado’s career, but he is ready for the challenge.
Jose Delgado Reacts to Jean Silva Fight
After the UFC made the Silva vs. Delgado fight official, the Arizona native reacted to getting the biggest fight of his career booked.
“A lifetime of praying for this. A lifetime of sacrifice after sacrifice in hopes of a better future. A lifetime amount of work culminating to this night. Believe, I’ll show how great we are,” Delgado wrote on his Instagram.
Delgado a Big Underdog at Noche UFC
While Delgado is obviously very excited for this fight against Silva, the oddsmakers aren’t exactly liking his chances of winning this one.
According to the latest betting odds for this fight, Delgado is a massive +355 betting underdog to win the fight, while Silva is a monster -425 betting favorite.
Given that Silva has more experience in the UFC against a higher level of competition, it’s not surprising at all to see him as the betting favorite for this fight, and by a healthy margin, too.
Delgado is a really good fighter, but Silva has fought and defeated better fighters so far during his UFC career. Plus, he got a full training camp for this fight, while Delgado is stepping up on short notice and filling in for the injured Rodriguez.
That’s not to say that Delgado doesn’t stand a chance, because he is a very good fighter in his own right, and he’ll certainly have his opportunities in this bout. But Silva is the deserved favorite based on his body of work in the UFC, and it would be a major upset if Delgado were able to pull off this win in his home state of Arizona in front of his fans.
