The WNBA MVP race is starting to heat up in the league with so many worthy candidates being mentioned in the conversation.
One player that seems to be getting the most attention, though, is Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark. Clark’s latest performance in the Fever’s 113-90 win over the Chicago Sky has made her a top MVP candidate.
In the game, Clark finished with a game-high 37 points and hit 8 three-pointers. She also added 10 assists, 3 rebounds, and 1 steal in the victory. That kind of performance really had one former NFL player going out of his way to make a bold claim.

After the game, former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III took to X to share his opinion on Clark’s MVP status. Griffin made it clear that he thinks she should be named the WNBA MVP.
“The WNBA has never seen anything like Caitlin Clark. Olivia Miles is the WNBA Rookie of the Year. Kelsey Mitchell is the best scorer in the WNBA. A’ja Wilson is the best player in the WNBA. Caitlin Clark is the Most Valuable Player in the WNBA. Caitlin Clark has more 30+ point and 10+ assists games in her career than the rest of the WNBA has in league history. She’s only been in the WNBA for 3 years and missed almost all of last season. Caitlin Clark haters gotta just accept that she really like that.”

This isn’t the first time Griffin has made this claim. Over the last month, he has campaigned for Clark to be at the top of the MVP list.
Clark leads the league in assists per game with 8.3. She is also averaging 22.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per game.

The stats speak for themselves. Clark has been criticized for turning the ball over too much and being inconsistent on defense, but she is a top-five scorer and an elite passer.
She has been a major reason that the Fever are one of the best teams in the WNBA this season. Even when Clark isn’t the top scorer, she’s still dishing the ball out and helping on the boards.
Indiana just got through a four-game stretch within six days that saw Clark score over 20 points in three of those games. For her to score 37 in the final game of that stretch is incredible to see.
There’s not much time left in the season for Clark to pad the stats if she wants to win it. She still has to compete with Wilson and Mitchell to win the MVP award.
