Emerson, who was previously deemed questionable for Sunday's Week 16 game against Cincinnati due to a concussion, also has a back issue, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports. Emerson suffered a concussion last Sunday versus the Chiefs, and he hasn't yet cleared the NFL's concussion protocol. His status for Sunday's matchup against the Bengals is now further complicated by a back issue. If Emerson ends up not being able to play against Cincinnati, Mike Ford would likely start at cornerback.
Tillman (concussion) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Bengals, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports. This is the fourth game Tillman will miss after suffering a concussion against the Steelers back on Thursday night football in Week 12. The switch from Jameis Winston to Dorian Thompson-Robinson might subdue what had been a vibrant passing attack with Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore absorbing the majority of the passing volume in Tillman's absence.
Strong will serve as the backup running back Sunday against the Bengals. With Nick Chubb (foot) on season-ending injured reserve, Jerome Ford becomes the lead runner, with Strong and D'Onta Foreman getting evaluation opportunities over the final three weeks, per Zac Jackson of The Athletic. Strong is under contract for next season while Foreman is not. When both Chubb and Ford were healthy over the last six games, Strong had just four carries for 13 yards and two catches (two targets) for nine yards.
Garrett sent a message to the Cleveland organization Friday that he does not want to endure another rebuild, Jason Lloyd of The Athletic reports. "I'm not trying to rebuild. I'm trying to win right now," Garrett said. "I want that to be apparent when the season's over and we have those discussions." Garrett is under team control for two seasons beyond the current one and has already been through one rebuild, which included his rookie season in 2017, when the Browns went 0-16. The star defensive lineman added that he wants to stay loyal to a team that has stuck by him, but Garrett, who turns 29 next weekend, is very much in "win now" mode. He cited the club's plans at quarterback as a major issue. Considering a failed gamble on Deshaun Watson, the uncertain status of running back Nick Chubb (foot), and a 3-11 record during a season that was supposed to include the postseason, the organization is need of a major roster makeover.
Garrett (back) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Bengals, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Garrett popped up on the Browns' injury report Thursday as a non-participant in practice due to a back issue. However, he returned to full practice Friday, appearing to have moved past the injury in time to play in Sunday's divisional matchup. Expect Garrett to cause problems for the Bengals' offensive line in Week 16.
Winston (shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Bengals, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Winston has lost his gig as the Browns' starter, but coach Kevin Stefanski said Friday that Winston could still potentially be the backup to Dorian Thompson-Robinson, according to Oyesfusi. If Winston doesn't get cleared for the QB2 role, Bailey Zappe will handle those duties.
Emerson (concussion) is questionable for Sunday's outing against the Bengals, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Emerson is officially questionable for Cleveland's Week 16 matchup in Cincinnati. The third-year cornerback is in the concussion protocol after leaving last weekend's matchup against Kansas City. If he can't get cleared in time, backup Mike Ford will likely get the start if not more playing time versus the Bengals.
