ABC San Francisco reports that cops in San Jose went to McDonald’s home on the evening of December 16. McDonald played in the 49ers defeat to the Seattle Seahawks on December 14, hitting Seahawks QB Russell Wilson three times. According to the NFL, despite these allegations, McDonald is eligible to play for the 49ers this Sunday. Despite this, the 49ers cut McDonald from their roster within hours of the allegations being made public.

2. McDonald Beat Domestic Abuse Allegations in November 2014

In August 2014, McDonald was arrested on domestic violence charges that he was later cleared of. District attorney Jeff Rosen said the charges were dropped because of “insufficient evidence.” The arrest came in the aftermath of McDonald’s 30th birthday party which was held in his home in San Jose. McDonald lives at that home with his fiancee, who was pregnant at the time, she showed “visible injuries” of abuse. In a statement after the charges were dropped, McDonald said:

I appreciate the seriousness of the situation and I understand and respect that law enforcement had a job to do, which is why I cooperated fully with their investigation from beginning to end. I am relieved that the DA’s office has rightfully decided not to file charges. I want to thank everyone who was supportive during this difficult time.

Throughout the investigation, McDonald remained on the 49ers active roster.
