Super Bowl XLIX opened as a Pick ‘Em game.

For the uninitiated, Pick ‘Em means there is no point spread, no true favorite. Pick the team you think is going to win, straight up. That’s how evenly matched Las Vegas oddsmakers view the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots.

Before the conclusion of the AFC Championship Game, which the Patriots won 45-7 and controlled all night, Vegas oddsmakers were giving Seattle the edge. While New England was building an insurmountable lead, the Seahawks, who had beaten the Packers earlier in the day, were marked as the early 2.5-point favorite.

By the time the line stopped moving and the Patriots had finally dispatched the Colts in a blowout AFC Championship Game, the opening point spread was even in Vegas. Welcome to the digital age of sports wagering.

However, we live in a live betting world and the line is expected to move throughout the next two weeks leading up to the game.

So far, Seattle is living up to lofty expectations Las Vegas had for the Seahawks all along. Going into championship weekend, Vegas Insider had the Seahawks as the early favorite (6/5) to win it all. The Patriots had 9/5 odds to win the Super Bowl, but now it appears it’s anyone’s game.
