USA Women’s Gymnastics Olympic Trials Results: Day 1
Unsurprisingly, Simone Biles was the star of Friday night at the USA women’s gymnastics Olympic trials, coming in first in the all-around competition.
The world champion and heavy favorite for gold in Rio wasn’t at her best, but she still topped rising star Laurie Hernandez by a full point, while 2012 gold medalist Gabby Douglas fell to seventh after a big mistake on the balance beam, leaving her Rio hopes a little less secure than when the night started.
The gymnasts will be back Sunday for another round of competition before the five-woman Olympic team is decided. Here’s a full look at the standings after Friday night:
