Noah Davis: Everything you need to know

The Pirates reassigned Davis to minor-league camp Monday. Davis had attended spring training as a non-roster invitee and was given the chance to compete for a swingman role with the Pirates, but he fell short in his bid for the Opening Day roster after logging a 7.90 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 13.2 innings. The 28-year-old righty has seen big-league action in each of the past four seasons, but his lack of a 40-man roster spot could make it difficult for him to earn a call-up to Pittsburgh at any point in 2026.

The Pirates signed Davis to a minor-league contract Jan. 5. Davis owns a career 9.53 ERA and 58:29 K:BB over 62.1 innings covering parts of four seasons at the big-league level. The 28-year-old has plenty of past experience as a starting pitcher, but he was used almost exclusively as a reliever in 2025, and he'll likely open 2026 in the bullpen at Triple-A Indianapolis.

The Twins outrighted Davis to Triple-A St. Paul on Friday. The transaction clears 26-man and 40-man roster spots for the return of Pablo Lopez (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list. Davis has surrendered a whopping 24 runs (22 earned) over 11 innings at the big-league level this season between the Dodgers and Twins.
