Ryan Harbin: Everything you need to know

Harbin (lat) re-signed with the Pirates on a minor-league deal Saturday. Pittsburgh added Harbin to its 40-man roster over the winter, but he has yet to pitch this season after suffering a right lat strain early in spring training. The Pirates designated Harbin for assignment in late April and then released him once he cleared waivers, but the right-handed reliever found his way back to the organization and will pitch out of the Triple-A Indianapolis bullpen once he's back to full health.

The Pirates designated Harbin (lat) for assignment Wednesday. The transaction frees a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander Chris Devenski, who was called up from Triple-A Indianapolis. Harbin was placed on Indianapolis' 60-day injured list earlier this month due to a right lat strain and it's unclear when he might be ready to pitch again. The injury could affect his appeal on waivers.

Triple-A Indianapolis placed Harbin (lat) on its 60-day injured list March 18. Harbin was shut down early in spring training with a right lat strain and will be out for at least the first two months of the Triple-A campaign while he recovers from the injury. Pittsburgh added Harbin to its 40-man roster over the winter after he finished 2025 with a 4.69 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 92:46 K:BB in 63.1 innings across three minor-league levels.
