Phillips took a no-decision Sunday against the Mets, allowing no runs on two hits and two walks in 3.2 innings. He struck out four. Phillips fared well in his first start of the season, matching a season high in punchouts in his longest outing of the year. The 28-year-old right-hander also worked rather efficiently, throwing 37 of his 59 pitches for strikes, and he'll be trying to reach the 60-pitch marker for the first time in 2026 in a scheduled rematch with the Mets on the road next weekend. Phillips has a 1.07 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 31:18 K:BB over 33.2 innings, but he might be tough to justify as a viable fantasy streamer until his workload increases.

Tyler Phillips: Breaking News
Starting Sunday
Phillips will start Sunday's game against the Mets, Stephen Strom of Marlins Radio Network reports. The Marlins sent Braxton Garrett down after just two starts, and it will be Phillips who gets the next shot at replacing Robby Snelling (elbow) in the rotation. The right-hander has pitched well in 2026 with a 1.20 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 27:16 K:BB over 30 innings, but he has not thrown more than three innings in an appearance this season, so it would be a stretch to think he could get to the five innings necessary to qualify for the win in his first start of the campaign.
Option to start Sunday
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough indicated Thursday that Phillips is under consideration to start Sunday's game against the Mets, Craig Mish of FanDuel Sports Network Florida reports. Phillips has been a full-time reliever the last two seasons with the Marlins, but almost all of his experience prior to that both at the major- and minor-league level has been as a starting pitcher. He's also exceeded 40 pitches in each of his last two relief outings, so Phillips is relatively stretched out. If the Marlins do go with Phillips on Sunday, he likely wouldn't be able to go longer than four innings.
