Yohan Ramírez: Everything you need to know

Ramirez earned the save Saturday against the Brewers after tossing a scoreless 10th inning, striking out two. Ramirez has gone 1-for-2 in save chances this season, but he didn't have major problems getting the job done in this one. The right-hander tossed 10 of his 15 pitches for strikes, retiring William Contreras with a groundout before fanning Jake Bauers and Tyler Black. Ramirez has struck out at least two in five of his last seven appearances, and he seems to be getting back on track after allowing four runs (two earned) and five hits over two outings on April 16 and April 18 against the Nationals and Rays, respectively. Ramirez has a 2.04 ERA and a 19:9 K:BB across 17.2 innings (11 outings) in 2026.

Ramirez allowed one run on one hit and one walk while striking out two in the seventh inning of Thursday's 8-7 extra-inning loss to Washington. Ramirez was charged with a blown save, allowing the go-ahead run at the time due to a wild pitch to give the Nationals a 7-6 lead. The 30-year-old has appeared in nine games for Pittsburgh, recording a 2.13 ERA in 12.2 innings. The right-hander has posted at least two strikeouts in seven of his nine relief outings, working more than one inning five times and picking up two wins and a hold.

Ramirez and the Pirates agreed to a one-year, $825,000 contract Thursday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports. Ramirez had been looking at arbitration if he and Pittsburgh had not been able to agree upon a deal. The Dominican reliever appeared in 24 games with the Pirates in 2025, posting a 5.40 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 45:16 K:BB over 33.1 innings while notching one hold and a 3-3 record.
