No Shooting at Lake Mary High School in Florida

There were reports of a shooting at Lake Mary High School near Orlando, Florida, according to WFTV. It now appears the school has been cleared with local media saying it may have been a hoax, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Here’s what we know so far:

1. Panicked Students Were Seen Fleeing the School

According to reports from the ground, students are hiding in closets in the school. ther students could be seen from overhead TV shots running out of the school with their hands on their heads. One student, Alissa Hyvonen, who was hiding, told Click Orlando, “We’re hiding right now. We’re ok.”

2. The 911 Call Said There Was a Shooting

The initial anonymous emergency call that came in said that shots were fired and there was an active gunman in the school. Kim Cannaday of the Seminole County sheriff’s department told the media, “We are no actively investigating the origination of the call.”

3. Nobody Was Hurt

4. It Was Treated as a Code Red

Emergency services and cops flooded the school, surrounding it, as a precaution.

5. There’s Nearly 3,000 Students in the School

The school has 2,862 students enrolled.
